If Kansas manages to weasel out of their GOR deal, then that means they are all meaningless.

Any rumors about Big XII schools leaving ain't true in the near future.
I thought the grant of rights was only for 6 years?

This might not be your point with that statement ....but Ratings really don't matter that much when it comes to attractiveness.....Its all about the number of TV sets, because regardless or not everybody watches, they're going to make a deal with the cable providers and charge everybody who subscribes there

Nope, it was for 12 or 13. They needed stabilization last year, so when Stanford's AD became Commish, that was his first order of business.

The key is to get the Big Ten network in the area so the other fans can watch it. Even if Rutgers doesn't draw much, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and some of the others will.

              Rovell doesn't get it.

He ignores everything but people in NYC. He ignores the millions of NJ people who are in the NYC media market. He ignores all of the B1G alum in the area. He ignores the fact that Rutgers has 4 of the 5 highest CFB TV ratings in NYC on ESPN, and all 5 of the highest rated CFB games on ESPN2. He ignores how lucrative pairing the BTN with the YES network can be. He ignores so many things because he has a bone to pick with Rutgers.

He's an ESPN guy, so I'm not shocked that he attempts to belittle a team that joined the B1G.

Yeah, 13. The TV contract was for 13, the original GOR only for 6, then they changed it. Good move. Someone would have gotten tired of the LHN well before 13 years were up.

Some guy associated with WUSA9 (a DC-based television station) just tweeted GT and UVa to B1G to be announced Monday.

I'll believe it when I see it. So many damn rumors nowadays.

I can't really see KU or GT going to the B1G. Georgia Tech obviously doesn't fit the geographic profile of the conference, being that the closest school (Maryland) is 650 miles away. Kansas, on the other hand, doesn't fit the academic profile of the conference. US News and World Report ranks them #106 among national universities. While that may sound good, when we take the fact that the the lowest-ranked Big Ten schools are Iowa, Michigan State, and Indiana at a tie for #71, the school gets significantly less attractive.

That being said, if the CIC wants to lessen their profile by taking teams from the Big XII, so be it. That just makes UH more likely to get an invite.

I'm seeing reports that GT and UVA will be announced Monday as B1G members.

UCONN and UC better hope this happens, though the ACC may stay at 12 rather than go back up to 14.

Maybe, just maybe, ND will join the ACC for football and they can get them and a B12 team.

Man, maybe the ACC will fold. Someone may bolt for the SEC or Big 12 if these rumors turn out to be true.

The ACC won't fold before the Big East does. I think most of the Big East schools want out one way or another, and if that means settling for the ACC, so be it.
