Of course, this could open a door for 2 Big 12 schools to join the Big East, and they can bring their basketball programs with them as well.

I really believe that Syracuse has a vested interest in the Big East staying together but if WVU leaves for the SEC then stick a fork in this bad boy. I hate it though, I really think this could adversely affect the Basketball side of things, Unless SU plans on scheduling games at MSG just for the heck of it, SU could lose NYC in Basketball.

What Big 12 team would join the Big East without SU, Pitt, and WVU? If these rumors are true, look for TCU to abandon the Big East and head to the Big 12. Or another possability would be a merger of the Big 12 and the remainder of the Big East. Wild times times for sure...

I would think that if Pitt and Syracuse came to the ACC, that the 2 Big XII (while doesnt fit at all geographically) would come as well.

Preferably I would rather see WVU and UCONN come with Pitt and Syracuse though.

Big Eastern 12? That could work (The merger idea, not the name)

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows

The Atlantic Coast Conference has received application letters from Pittsburgh and Syracuse to join the league, a move that would leave the Big East scrambling to replace two of its longest tenured members.

Pitt and Syracuse have officially applied to join the ACC. Wow, this story has moved hella fast already. The ACC has raised the buyout for schools to leave up to 20 million. This probably prevents Clemson and FSU from going to the SEC. I don't they were going anyway, because of the SEC wanting new markets.

Anyway, As it was said on Coming to America: "let the courtship COMMENCE!!!"

Its sure going to be wierd not watching Syracuse in MSG. I can almost Gaurentee that WVU is headed to the SEC, I just do not see Syracuse making this move without a imminent collapse of the Big East

Yeah, the Greensboro Coliseum or TWC Arena just don't have the luster that MSG and the Big East Championship does.

I wonder who else the ACC would go after now. I wouldn't mind UCONN/Louisville...I would prefer WVU over Louisville but it looks like the writing is on the wall for WVU to head towards the SEC now.

Still not to sure about Syracuse though when it comes to joining the ACC unless they are part of the package deal to get Pitt, which I guess I would be okay with.
