That's a great question. Are they better saying off screw it and staying in the Mountain West and hoping they are able to take the Big East's spot in the BCS. Or try to see if they could get a Big 12/ Big East merger if OU and OSU leave to the West Coast.

TCU will migrate again. It's what they do. MAC is another conference for them to tryOr maybe the Sun Belt. They've run through every other mid-major conference. Might as well complete the list.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
There is nothing that says there has to be 6 BCS auto bids. If Big East drops to 7, doubt they hold on to it and the Big 12 is on life support. The MWC had a chance with TCU and Boise, but they needed to combo of at least TCU/Boise/Utah to get it. If BYU hadn't of left, probably would have been a lock. It'll be like the good ol' days before long. Big Ten/Pac-12, SEC, and ACC in place of the Big 8 in the major bowls, rest as at larges, the way it ought to be. But if that happens, the BCS will cave and allow 3 teams from a conference so we'll just see 3 SEC schools every year.Comment

Could the ACC score MSG for a championship?
And will the non football Big East schools form a new conference? Or will the Big East drop football?Football: Denver Broncos

If the Big 12 dies, they'll scoop every team that gets left in the cold and keep going, though the name will be rather meaningless at that point.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
We will probably see the Big 12/Big East leftovers merge, if I had to guess. Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC; WVU to the SEC. But we'll see. This thing could go the way of the Pac-16, still.Comment

Also, I wonder what the B1G is going to do. They may not have to make moves, but with the ACC, SEC, and Pac-12 prepared to pounce they don't wanna get left behind with scraps.Last edited by cdawg44; 09-17-2011, 12:29 PM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I don't see the ACC getting MSG. I strongly believe the remaining basketball schools in the Big East break-off and keep that tradition going probably with the Big East name. The Prudential Center in Jersey may be an option though which the Dukies would love because they usually play one game in New York every year.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Sure Greensboro will have the vast majority, but they do move it around. This year or next the ACC tourney is back in Atlanta. It has also been in D.C. and Tampa recently as well."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Greensboro has a lot of history, itself. With the addition of Pitt and Syracuse and the Big East falling apart, the ACC would become the premier basketball conference in the country and the ACC Tournament would probably be as hyped up as the Big East Tournament currently is.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
The ACC probably would rotate MSG into the mix, as they have done with other locations. They probably aren't going back to Tampa, so switching to MSG wouldn't be a problem. They are in Greensboro through 2015, so it will be a few years unless those can be changed.
The ACC needs WVU, Texas, OU, etc though for football. Adding Pitt and SU do nothing but make it easier to win the conference in football.Comment
