Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
It's not official. I find it hard to believe we find out they submitted applications this morning and before the day is over, they are in? It's just good as gold; ACC isn't going to turn down schools when there is the chance they get raided by the SEC, and don't baffle me with the bull**** about how Clemson and FSU will never get in. ACC is just being smart and proactive in all this. But I'm not buying that the two schools are already officially in. Yea, at halftime of the Tenn/Florida game, they said the ACC hasn't even voted on it, though it will just be a formality. It's no guarantee yet.
And I don't think $20 million is too high a price. A&M right now is liable to owe somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 million, though I doubt that holds up. With the Big 12 falling apart, though, seems more likely that the SEC gets Missouri as #14, West Virginia as #15, but I still see an ACC school as #16.Comment

But it's not. CBS during half time of the Gators game said the ACC will vote on it as early as tomorrow, a.k.a, it's not official, yet.Comment

Nice to see the two ACC invitees blow their games today. Pitt blew a 21-point late third quarter lead to lose at Iowa and Syracuse got dominated at USC.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
lol did you really expect to see SU win today? Be realistic, Gre Robinson destroyed this program so its going to take a few years to really be competitive nationally. Doug Marrone is our guy though, if anyone is up to the task it is him.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

This could also be the start of the UT & ND led conference that the longhorns were dreaming of a month or so ago. UT & ND + Big 12 & Big East Leftovers.
It actually seems somewhat plausible now. I could even see both UT and ND being Ind. in football, but still being the leaders in the formation of this conference for their olympic sports.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Lots of talk about UConn and Rutgers also joining Syracuse and Pittsburgh and making the ACC the first superconference.
Have to imagine the Pac-12 will not be far behind in going Pac-16 with OU, Okie State, and probably Texas and Texas Tech.
SEC goes to 16 then? It would all depend on if the ACC teams were committed to the conference or if they could be persuaded to go. A&M, Missouri, and West Virginia all seem like pretty good bets to the SEC. If the ACC is locked down, there aren't many other choices for #16... maybe Louisville.
So that leaves the Big 10. Have to imagine they would finally get their gem, Notre Dame as #13. But then what? Again, the ACC's level of commitment would factor in huge. Heck, so would the SEC's, because you know Missouri would rather be in the Big 10. But assuming they don't poach any other superconference, their choices are limited. In fact, with the knowledge that the Big Ten loves its AAU schools (all schools were AAU schools before Nebraska got booted, and NU's chancellor said they would not have been invited without AAU membership), it cuts it down even further. There are only 2 AAU schools that were in BCS conferences and would be available: Kansas and Iowa State. It would be interesting to see if the Big 10 would stick with their AAU preference, even with Iowa State not adding any markets for the Big Ten Network (with the Hawkeyes around). And it would be interesting to see who team #16 would be. Have to imagine they could pull in Missouri... the Tigers want Big Ten membership so very, very badly.
Will be interesting, to say the leastComment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I wonder when they will be able to play in ACC. Is it all sports.
With the possibility of Super-Conferences, I would love to see them do away with BCS and go with 10-12 team Playoffs and bowl games.
Do these changes affect College Basketball. Even though I dont watch College BBall if all these realignments affect College BBall conferences, it will really change up alot of things. Especially the Big East and Big 12. Pitt and Cuse are 2 of the top teams in that conference. It would make ACC one of the best if not best conference. Big 12 dissolving would really change things upLast edited by illwill10; 09-18-2011, 01:51 AM.Comment
