    This is fantastic:

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh accused Ohio State of breaking practice rules during a Big Ten coaches call on Monday, according to a report by Bucknuts.com.

"During an Ohio State team meeting later Monday, according to Bucknuts, Day purportedly told his players that the Wolverines better hope for a mercy rule this season because his team was 'going to hang 100 on them.'"

Oh man - I really hope the Michigan-Ohio State game happens this year. People will be all over this quote.

    I love college football!!!

I hope they cancel the season. One illness due to this virus is too much. We need to truly value the health and safety of these players. Putting them on a football field would compromise their health. They are already treated so poorly. Let's not have them risk their lives so others can benefit from their labor.

I opted out of my season football tickets this year. I'm not convinced they will play this year, and I'd rather just opt out now and get my money back and return next year when hopefully things are closer to normal than they are now.

The is a high level post!

I really fear for the worst. I've seen to much greed in the last few years. And this pandemic has exposed so much more.

OK - but if we say that we don't want the players to be exploited and that they should have a voice in decisions involving their labor, then they also get a say in whether they play or not. A lot of guys want to play this season, and their choices should be respected.

And, by the way, I feel the same way about our student body. I am a professor at Pitt and our students will have the option to either attend class in person, watch the class real time over Zoom or watch a recording of the class - and these options are available for each and every class. They get to make the call day-in/day-out based on their situation and comfort level, etc.

I have my copy of the Phil Steele College Football Preview...

and I don't know if I should read it cover-to-cover or preserve it as a collector's item.

The MAC is the first FBS conference to completely cancel their season.

They're looking into the possibility of playing in the spring.

Sorry lol. I just had the thought of football players watching their games through zoom meeting. Went through a bunch of different camera angles of players at home yelling strong right! [emoji23][emoji1787]

Pitt with a big loss as DT Jaylen Twyman opts out, projected first round pick. I don't blame any kid for doing what is best for them and their family. Especially if you have a 1st or 2nd round grade with the money and opportunity the NFL can bring.

I know there would be a whole host of logistical stuff to work through but spring seems like a no brainer. Especially if there’s a vaccine or other huge improvement in treatments by then that could let them play the season with a lot less restrictions.

Plus it would be kind of awesome to follow up the nfl with a college football season

Man one of my big fears right now. With Every thing going on. No mask/with mask all that stuff. I worry. When there is actually a vaccine. Will some even get it? And I completely understand the fear behind not getting one. I know for a fact Frontline workers have to get it like all the other shots that are required. It's going to be weird.

A vaccine isn't going to be a cure-all even if 100% of the population got it. The aim of the vaccine is to only be around 50% effective which is what they also aim for with the flu shot, but they hardly hit that with the flu shot. Most people think if they get a flu shot that they can't get the flu that year, but that's simply untrue. Last year's flu shot was around 30% effective, but how many people know that? Hint, nearly nobody does.

I only know it because I got both type A and type B flu one year and had a miserable few weeks. That made me start getting the flu shot annually. I ended up still getting the flu. After talking with my doctor and doing my own research as well, I learned that the average flu shot isn't all that effective, especially compared to how people believe it works. Heck, the last decade saw the average flu shot have a ridiculous range of 19-60% effectiveness.

While people may think a vaccine is going to lead to life returning to normal, it won't exactly work the way they expect. It will 100% help in fighting the virus, but covid isn't going anywhere. As morbid as it sounds, the good news is that if you are not very old and are not overweight or have pre-existing health conditions, then the virus is actually not that lethal. 19-30 year olds who aren't overweight and have no health conditions have something like a 0.0000006% chance of dying from covid.

That said, we don't know the long-term affects of the virus. Some stories are out there saying that those who had coivd may live with long term damage to their respiratory systems. Other stories say that is simply not true. The fact is we have about no idea right now if there are long lasting affects or not. That alone is enough for me to have no qualms with canceling the season and trying again next year if everything is contained and back to normal.

I saw a recent study that one out of 5 had a level of heart damage. It's scary to think that this could go through someone body. Not feel anything major. But come out a little damaged on the other end. I can't imagine wanting to put career or life on the line when we really have no clue. Like I don't want to play a game like that.
