Re: College Football Off Topic
Bret Bielema once again shows why he is a giant tool.
FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas -- Arkansas coach Bret Bielema doesn't believe Auburn is following protocol when it comes to sharing game film.
The coach's main issue? Auburn did not include a wide angle view of one of the Tigers' 2-point conversion sets, which it calls "Batman," he said Monday.
Auburn usually lines up in the set, with a player scanning the defense before shifting into a typical field goal formation after most touchdowns. The Tigers used it during their 45-10 victory against Florida Atlantic, but kicked a field goal.
"There are just some clips that haven't -- shall we say, the TV copy doesn't match the film copy," Bielema said Monday. "And it's something we have kind of been aware of now for the last week and half in getting our preparation. So we can use other film and stuff like that to make sure we are getting the full picture."
Bielema and Auburn coach Gus Malzahn entered a small public feud over their philosophical differences on the football field in the summer. Bielema believes hurry-up offenses lead to more injuries, which prompted Malzahn, an Arkansas native, to go on the attack at SEC Media Days in July.
Bielema poured more fuel on the fire Monday.
"You know, I really don't know Gus," Bielema said. "I mean, obviously I know the history (at Arkansas). I might have shaken his hand on two different occasions. Never had a conversation with him. I know everybody kind of plays that stuff up and now with the whole film thing, too, it's going to get a little bit blown out of proportion, too."
Bielema was not prompted by a reporter when he brought up the game film during a press conference Monday.
Arkansas was not aware of the "swinging gate" formation until it compared TV and game film, Bielema said.
"So, if I hadn't watched the TV copy, or if our guys hadn't had a the time to go back and review, we would have never known that to happen," the first-year Arkansas coach said. "I'm sure it's a glitch. I'm know Gus stands for everything that's right and (has) great faith in doing things right. So I'm sure it's just a glitch that they'll get to the bottom of."
Bielema is no stranger to issues with game film. The former Wisconsin coach refused to share film with Oregon State in 2012 because the Beavers had no game film of its season opener to share because of a hurricane.AUBURN TIGERS

Bielema is a douche. There's a reason no one in Wisconsin was upset to see him go.
I miss having him in the B1G because the entertainment value skyrocketed. It's hard to hate Gary Anderson, who is by all accounts a great person.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

I had no idea that like schools/coaches shared game film. In reality it's no big deal cause it's already out there somewhere, but just sounds weird.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: College Football Off Topic
Well...that's actually why they swap game film. Think about it. If you know the other coach is going to wind up with a copy anyway, and you're going to wind up with a copy, why not just cut out the middle man and straight up trade? Not only that, you're going to want a copy of film vs. a team that runs a similar offense and defense. If you're Clemson and about to play Miami, you don't want game film of them vs. Georgia Tech's offense. Then you'll have to call around, and that then it becomes a bigger ordeal than it needs to be
In high school, it's much tougher. After a game a coach will usually drive out to a meeting point halfway between the schools and swap tape, get back to the fieldhouse and start watching tape. Since they have early morning film, usually they end up with less than 3 hours of sleep on the night.Last edited by Watson; 10-29-2013, 10:05 AM.And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Not anymore Watson. Something called Hudl. Most awesome thing for a coach ever. You exchange film online with the click of a button. By Saturday, we can have a teams game from the previous night. Kids can watch on their own and there's an app for it.

Although my senior year they didn't exchange film on Hudl. I guess that's a new feature or didn't catch on until after I graduated. And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Auburn counters Arkansas claim. They want to know why Arky didin't send them any touchdowns or tackles tape.AUBURN TIGERS
