Bowl games played in the south are essentially home games for SEC teams against non-southern opponents. That has to be factored in the bowl record discussion as well. If the same games were held in Oregon, Indiana, New York etc. would the SEC win as many as they do now when so many are in Nascar country?
Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
I think even if that happens, it's still the SEC on top unless something drastically changes. It's going to take another conference proving themselves more than just one year.Comment

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
So it's silly to be proud that you play the best the country has to offer because you're a part of the best conference in college football, even if you're consistently in the bottom tier??? So should middle & lower-class, civilian citizens feel any less patriotic because they don't pay as much taxes as the upper-class or didn't fight in a war like a armed services veteran???Comment

And just wait, this poster's comments is going to initiate the Ohio St-LSU match-up in New Orleans. Here comes OSU..."it was a home game for them, if we played it in da horws-shoe it be different stary"Last edited by football200414; 07-26-2013, 02:41 PM.Comment

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
Yes, its silly and pathetic to chant S..E...C..., refer to the SEC as "us", or to act as though with success at Bama or LSU is something that they should feel any sort of pride or accomplishment with.

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
Bowl records should be factored very little if at all...and FYI not everyone in the South loves NASCAR...most of us find it just as dumb as everyone else to watch people take left turns all day and wait for the big crash

But does GA beat Nebraska if they play in Des Moines? Does South Carolina beat Michigan if they play in Chicago? Does Stanford beat Wisconsin if they play at Lambeau? Does TCU beat Mich St. if they play in Cleveland? I'm not so sure.Comment

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
It has nothing to do with college football conference pride.......AT ALL
Yes, I celebrate my University's accomplishments, not ride the coattails of my rivals because my team is absolutely pathetic and getting pounded year in, year out (this isnt an attack on Kentucky, even though it sounds like one, I feel the same way when I hear Vol fans beat their SEC chest). I want every SEC team not from Knoxville to lose every game, especially when that outcome will benefit my team. This, of course is only JMO.Last edited by seasprite; 07-26-2013, 02:38 PM.Comment

Numb would be a better word...........................
Back to conference pride, I forgot to go get my Alabama Championship T-shirt to show off my conference pride.Last edited by seasprite; 07-26-2013, 02:48 PM.Comment

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
In all seriousness I think in his last point he makes legitimate points. We all know I'm a coaches and coordinators guy, so outside of my few main teams I root for different teams from year to year, but I think a lot of SEC fans feel the same way he describes.Golf: Bubba

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
I as well, but Bama, LSU, and Florida winning championships does not do anything positive for my team, anymore than a team in the PAC-12 winning it. But, while bottom-tier SEC team fans are chanting S...E....C...., they are getting further behind in recruiting and losing ground while their higher classed SEC bretheren are winning 'ships. I just dont get itComment

Re: Is the SEC really that dominant or overrated???
Ohio State and Notre Dame were too high
Florida was too low
Louisville wasn't ranked properly
Clemson barely belonged in the top 25
Kansas State and Oklahoma were really underrated
Vanderbilt was really overrated due to the SEC effect
I think this also confirms how top-heavy the SEC was last year. The bottom of the conference really wasn't all that great. There is a lot of evidence that says the SEC is on top, but bowl games by themselves are a very poor measuring stick. The fact that some SEC fan made a web page on how to interpret the results in different ways shows how poor it is.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)Comment
