Yup, agree with this 100% run any offense, but stay on the field, however that may be. I tried running an up tempo air raid attack, and was averaging 85+ plays a game, and never huddling, I was putting up almost 400 yeards of passing, but lost every game. since the CPU Offence just marched there way up and down the field, and wore out my D

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
- Look at the individual ratings of your DBs. If they're better in zone, play zone (and vice versa for man). Simply picking the 4 fastest corners isn't going to cut the mustard.
- Vary press coverage and playing off of the receivers.
- Apply pressure on the QB. Rushing 4 isn't always going to get the job done.
- Don't be afraid to pass commit.
- Use coaching adjustments liberally. If they are beating you deep, play conservative (and aggressive if they are dinking/dunking you).
- Don't be afraid to switch for swats....
I can shut down teams' passing games decently well using low level teams - but I have to work at it (and usually sacrifice rushing yardage as a result).
I would also like to add....know your opponent. Sounds pretty easy but after several seasons now I have the big 10 offenses almost memorized for certain situations. Believe it or not every team has tendencies in the game. Walking into the game blind defensively makes it a tough task to stop the cpu offense which makes sense. I find it perfectly acceptable for a 75 overall defense to be shredded by a sub par offense it's maction action....some tips I have learned to stop the passing game besides what josh has stated is.
In 3 wide sets (which the cpu runs the majority of time if a passing team) go dime to match up. The tight end and backs will be covered much better. 4-2-5 also works well if a corner is subbed in for the safety they matchup on the field instead of being out of position.
Learn to use lbs and safeties to take away the middle of the field first, give them long throws to the outside and watch the completion percentage drop.
Use your defensive audibles play man on the outside and audible your lbs to play zones.
Know your audibles with blitzes and bluffs or make an audible if you happen to see a matchup you don't like. A technique that I have learned through user vs user games is if in off coverage press the wrs at the last possible moment if you know it's a pass or if presses bail just before the snap. These happen to work great for me against the cpu.
Once you happen to stop the cpu pass game that consists of slants, screens, outs and stick routes it's a thing of beauty how play calling opens up, but if you can't stop those base plays they will run them the entire game. To stop these I play a cover 2 sink with the bail out method while usering the safety to take away the 9 route. Remember to incorporate Josh's advice as well and let us know how it goes.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
Josh may have the better answer but I would say yes. If slow the rb glitch if fast there is the stopping of players after the catch. Slower speed will give more time to read the field, faster obviously less time. Player movement will be responsive one way or another which will either help or hurt certain areas. I changed game speed one time long ago and tackling became way to easy seemed to give the defense a much bigger advantage with the glitches. Fast or very fast run the toss less time to get to the outside but also a lot less room do to the speed the. Slow or very slow you may never make it to the outside and the response time is slower with the user. With that said you may like it.Comment

That, and I think that the AI gets out-of-sync with the on-field animations with different game speeds (so you have to modify some sliders). Change the game speed, change the slider set.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
Great tips! I have been trying things like run commit and blitzing more but mostly get nickel and dimed down the field. So frustrating. But I guess it's part of building a nothing team into a contender. Love this game.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
Do the Coach Mode / Auto Pass sliders from post #2 still apply or should I use your 'normal' sliders from post #1 and just equal HUM & CPU sliders when I want to play Coach Mode?

Yeah, they should be fine...just change the OPI/DPI settings to 51/50. Another option is BlackRain's coach sliders....they are heavily influenced by this set and he has spent a ton of time on them.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

These were not built for RTG and I think it plays differently. Guessing that you need to drop quarter length due to sim on defense not working properly.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
I have another question though. I've been playing these sliders for 5 seasons and I feel like I've overachieved with a crap team on each of those seasons. As an OC I took Ball State and Colorado to bowl games. I took a shiiiity Idaho team to a bowl game and a pedestrian Duke team to the Peach Bowl (knocked off #1 VT on the road, #13 Wake Forest at Wade Wallace and a ranked Miami team on the road) The most recent season was the most alarming since it was my first season not finishing 6-6 or 7-6.
I feel like I over achieve on both sides of the ball. My QB completion is really high, even with low skill QBs and receiving. My Defense over achieves in the MLB position and D line. I usually play on the D line during defensive stands so, this could be the reason (either try to swim off the edge or bull rush the DT) My 73 OVR MLB won linebacker of the year in our first season at Duke .. . maybe just due to tackles on Tight ends with opposing QBs would dump over the middle to avoid pressure.
Question is: Is overachieving something that other people have seen with these sliders? Does playing on the D line and creating pressure on the QB (rather easily) break the game? Corner strike is a go to third down desperation call . . . it seems to work every time.
I like the threshold feel though, feels and looks great. Before I'd see him in Boulder, I'd see my son in Hell.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
This is a great set. Blocking is very realistic. However, I'm yet to have an offensive penalty. Are the penalty sliders broke? Also, what roster set are you using? I've been having game freezes and read that it could be an issue with my downloaded roster file. Thx.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
I primarily use the 2013 roster I posted on the OP (PS3). If you're on 360, I have no idea which roster will be the most stable - but yes, sometimes rosters can cause freezes...but also, using custom playbooks can also cause issues.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14
Great set Josh. Really resisted heisman and couldn't find a good AA set so decided to try them.
Tenn 48 BGSU 17
Really played well and was close until after 2nd half, my team got hot and defense stepped up.
One thing, they called QB option like crazy and the QB had 16 runs while HB had only 14. Any idea if this is normal? Or even how to focus QB so he will atleast hand it off.
Also for those asking, 2015-2016 community rosters are great! Just have to change some coach settings.Comment
