Re: How to fix QB Sim Stat Bug (Workaround)
OK, so this was my first season (offline CFM)--sort of a summary.
First, what I did was get the rosters, set my sliders, and then changed the playbooks to balanced and set all the schemes to vertical. The first season, I simmed with injuries off.
I saw 5 QB's get over 5,000. I saw 16 QB's get over 4,000 yards (very high here, but again, injuries were off).
Here are the top leaders in passing:
1) Matt Ryan, 5221 yards, 33 TDs, 18 INT
2) Matt Stafford, 5166 yards, 37 TD's, 16 INT
3) Andy Dalton, 5150 yards, 42 TD's, 19 INT
4) Peyton Manning, 5146 yards, 34 TDs, 13 INT
5) Drew Brees, 5082 yards, 32 TD's, 13 yards.
6) Colin Kaep, 4886 yards, 33 TD's 23 INT
Now, the INT are quite high, no question about it. But I don't think (without getting in and editing DB ratings or QB ratings), that these stats are terrible. For example, compare my 2014 simulated Drew Brees stats to his real stats of 2013:
2013 for Drew Brees: 5162 yards, 39 TD's, 12 INT.
So, I actually think the simulation here, at least for Brees, was absolutely perfect. You can say Dalton is too high, or maybe guys are throwing too many INT's, but it is a video game simulation. It'll never be perfect.
Here is how, after year one, these QB's, rated OVR:
1) Matt Ryan: 90
2) Matt Stafford: 92
3) Andy Dalton: 90
4) Peyton Manning: 96
5) Drew Brees: 97
6) Colin Kaep: 99
Here's how Manziel did (again, on balanced playbook, vertical passing for all 32 teams):
Manziel: 4,022 yards, 20 TD, 22 INT. He also had 90 rushing attempts for 267 yards and 2 TD's. Now, compare that to RGIII's 2nd year (I know, he was coming back off the injury but it still was real life): 86 rushing attempts, 489 rushing yards, 0 TD. In my simulated 2014 season, RGIII had 74 rushing attempts, 224 yards, and 2 TD's.
Here's rushing stats:
Remember, with injuries off, I saw 12 guys get over 1,000 yards. Lynch led the league with 1,470 yards (267 attempts) and 16 TD's. Followed by:
1) A. Foster: 291 attempts, 1,451 yards, 11 TD
2) A. Morris: 227 attempts, 1359 yards, 12 TD
3) J. Charles: 238 attempts, 1325 yards, 13 TD
4) F. Gore: 283 attempts, 1325 yards, 12 TD's
5) L. McCoy: 237 attempt, 1290 yards, 12 TD
6) A. Peterson: 261 attempt, 1191 yards, 16 TD
Now let's compare Jamaal Charles simulated 2014 stats to his real life 2013 campaign. In 2013, Charles had 259 carries for 1287 yards and 12 TDs. I don't think that's terribly off from the simulation above.
Top WR:
1) Calvin Johnson, 125 catches, 1990 yards, 17 TD
2) Julio Jones, 117, 1807, 12 TD
3) Percy Harvin (again, injuries off lol): 115 catches, 1757 yards, 13 TD
4) Andre Johnson: 113 catches, 1706 yards, 13 catches.
Now, these numbers sound a bit high I suppose, but let's compare Megatron's last fully health season to the sim stats. In 2012, Megatron caught 122 balls for 1964 yards and 5 TD. Now, the simulation has his TD stats MUCH higher than that (a result of playbook or scheme change I'm sure), but again overall, it's not too terrible.
As far as sacks, I saw 5 guys go over 20. Aldon Smith had 25.
I think overall, things are certainly pretty good. It'll never be perfect, but I think it's much better than what it was before. I did simulate two more seasons, this time with injuries on. I can post those later if anyone cares.Last edited by PacMan3000; 08-30-2014, 01:39 PM.Comment

Re: How to fix QB Sim Stat Bug (Workaround)
Here is some good news/and just not bad news but news that the stat system is working about as perfect as can be in a game where you never know what will happen.
Using your rosters Connolly here are just some snapshots of what happened in the year, no pics this time but pure stats by the numbers.
Quarterbacks By The Numbers
13 QB's with 4000+ Yards Passing, Peyton, Flacco and Breese at 4600 Yards. Which is about perfect when compared to last season and in fact a little above average!
4 Quarterbacks with 30+ Touchdowns, Brees was the leader with 39 which again by last year standards is about perfect with the exception of the crazy good season Manning had.
7 Quarterbacks threw for 20+ Interceptions, so once again that is perfect with what we saw in 2013, slightly higher, with 2 extra quarterbacks but many were throw by 2nd year and rookie quarterbacks so that can explain that.
Running Backs By The Numbers
8 Running backs broke 1000 yards, 5 less then last year but split carries seems to be popular in Madden so that could account for that. Lynch lead the way with 1651 yards which was about the high from last year.
8 had 4.0 Yards average per rush that were considered to be starting running backs on their respective teams. Roughly 12 starters that carried the work load for their team last season had more then 4 yards per carry so I would chalk this up to simply being that in this sim teams passed the ball more.
4 backs had 10+ touchdowns on the season, in real life 5 had such numbers from last season so it was very good in terms of being accurate here with the stats.
Receiving By The Numbers
7 Players had 100+ catches on the year, 5 in the real 2013 season and the catches were lead by Colston who had 131 followed by Steve Smith who had 129. Pretty close to actual 100+ catch receivers so very good numbers.
22 Receivers broke 1000 yards in this sim which compared to 2013, there were 24 players who achieved this. 1646 was the highest yard total by Josh Gordon in 2013, in the sim Steve Smith had 1630 yards receiving. Overall the average per catch is slightly lower BUT actual total yards remains true to life.
7 receivers broke 10 touchdowns compared to the 13 real life players in 2013, but again this is not a stat breaking thing it just means the ball was spread out between receivers much more in this sim then what may happen in others and in real life.
Defense By The Numbers (Sacks/Interceptions)
13 players were able to break double digits in sacks through my sim, 24 players did so in 2013, so right now the numbers are a bit lower but take into consideration that Madden still does not seem to calculate correctly half sacks so this could contribute to the lower sack numbers.
2 players broke 10 interceptions, but they only had 10, Sherman had 8 last year to lead the league so I do not feel that 2 players having only 10 interceptions is by any way a bad stat reflection and seems to be about perfect with real life.
Punting (Average Only)
At this time Punting I believe is the most broken of stats with average a good 10-15 yards below actual 2013 average numbers.
Summary
Right now it seems for the most part stats are performing on par with the real NFL, the only issues as it seems are with punting. Hopefully we can do some simple roster edits to allow this to be fixed and work properly. And Sacks actually could be slightly raised now when it comes to the sim engine. Otherwise default playbooks will work fine with getting proper numbers.Comment

This is with the rosters I did? I think INTs are very barely high, they aren't awful.Comment

Re: How to fix QB Sim Stat Bug (Workaround)
Connolly, the good news is that especially quarterbacks seem to be progressing/regressing pretty good now. The better they play the quicker they will progress, in one sim after year three Manziel was 92 OVR this time he is 84 OVR but has not been playing great. And those that have played great have their overalls show that. Brady at age 39 is still 90 overall, and Rodgers is sitting at a nice 99 overall.
And Romo, as for what settings I haven't touched any settings at all other then made the players progress only at the end of the season. Otherwise everything was set to default, though this is in Online CFM.Comment

I changed everyone plybk to pass balanced and scheme to vertical. Changed hawks, niners,Vikings, cheifs, and Texans to run balanced and power run. Have had 5000 yd passers, 1800 yd receivers, and 1600 yd rushers. Highest pick total was Sherman with ten. Highest sack was clowney with 25 but they seem to get lower the more yrs I sim.EA Sports - If it's in the game, it doesn't work!Comment

Progression is good now, in feeling great right now that this ended working. It's all been worth it so far. Anybody a couple seasons in and see luck leave still? Or anyone else that wouldn't leave for that matter?Comment
