Like said above, if you're scouting a power back, strength won't be as valuable because he is supposed to have it. Speed will. While for a speed back, its the opposite...
Could be done, I will have to adjust some formulas and the big board code, I may give that a try sometime soon.
It could run similar to the team needs, only per position and instead of team need, player type.
You would rank your player types in order from most important to least, 1 to 5. You draft a player who's type fits your style, it boosts his value slightly. You scout a player who's type is far from what you want, it decreases it.

Right now though, I'm working on player grades. I am just now startin so I may be up for awhile.

This is what I like about the weight system able to be adjusted by the user, it allows you to value your prospects to your liking.
Well I'm definitely going to have fun with it.

One thing I did notice that another user mentioned earlier is the weighted value on the speed/agility/acceleration attributes. I decided to map at my entire test draft just to see how the weights would work. My draft boards top 50 includes 8 projected undrafted players (2 wf's, 4 cg's, 1 hb, 1 lolb), 15 CB's (only 33 in the draft), 15 WR's (35 in the draft). I was thinking of changing the assigned value for the speed categories, but i think something easier would be just to put them at lower priorities. Currently my RB priority is Speed/Trucking/Catching = 5, Agility/Acceleration/Strength = 3, Elusiveness/BCV/Carry = 2. I think if I lower Speed to 3 and agi/acc to 2, I might get a more representative value of a running back compared to other positions.

      Thoughts?

Edit: Ended up making these changes for multiple positions. Kinda shook up my draft board a little bit near the top, but generally the same names are near the same places. This draft seems to have an absolute steal of a WR in the undrafted projection.

You see, it all depends on how you look at drafting in Madden, some expect to go into the draft and try to find the best overall rated players available, because they assume those will be the better players, because the number is higher. While they may be better all around, they may not be the best skill players to match your scheme.

The one thing i tinkered with the most on the tool trying to make it perfect was the attribute weights. I wanted to find a good balance to separate good players with talent, from good players who will excel in your offensive/defensive scheme.
Skill weights can be adjusted to your liking by changing the number (5, 3, 2, 1) to what you seem fit, be advised though, anything below a 2 will completely black out that skills column.

          Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool

Just curious, how many players do you normally get scouted without XP bonus?

I'm playing as the Bengals and am trying to get the bonus as soon as I can, but Marvin Lewis is at 4600 :/

In week 13(I screwed up a bit at the beginning so probably could have 1 more) I have 20 guys on my big board, highest at 282.74...(I didn't get a chance to do a test run, and decided not to and go all or nothing on my main 'chise with this lol)

Is that good, bad or average..?

Btw, I didn't play madden 25 a lot(only like 3 days), but when you get to the playoffs, can you scout every week then, too? Or no? Sorry to ask all this here, but you seem like a solid scouter and a good guy to ask lol

Keep in mind, you must have an equal amount of each weight for the position. two 5's, two 3's, two 2's, or 3 of each, or 4 of each. Each position can have a different amount as long as the weights are distributed evenly. With your adjustments, it puts you at two 5's, four 3's, and five two's - Not evenly distributed. What this does is allow a fair value grade between each position.

I did all of my drafts with Andy Reid, he has the expert scout bonus and usually ends the off season with about 5600 scouting points. I've been getting anywhere from 60-65 players on my big board. When i was scouting 9 attributes for each prospect, it was a solid 65 players each time and that was with a few mistakes of double scouting when I eagerly pressed x to fast.

280 I think is a good value, I had a recent draft test and my #1 player was a 270 at the LOLB position projected to go in Round 5.

Usually, I have one guy at the top that is about 5-10 points ahead of everyone else. Then I have a grouping of prospects that are within 5 points of each other. Then its scatters a bit before it drops drastically for my not needed positions of value.

One thing I have yet to do was take a draft class into the next season to see how the players pan out. Would be great to grab your #1 ranked guy in the middle rounds, have him grade out in the mid to high 60's and boom into a star after a few seasons because he had all the right attributes.

EDIT: Your scouting is balanced pretty well between attributes, although 1000 points goes a long way. I'm guessing you will,(EDIT: This is where I did the math in my head) I'm guessing you will end up with around 40-45 scouted prospects at that rate

Also, keep in mind, one of the biggest attributes that contributes to overall, and in turn, player draft position is Awareness. When scouting, you'll see a lot of the players in the early rounds have a c or higher awareness. The ones that dont probably have an extremely good group of skills elsewhere.

Awareness is one of the easiest skills to build in game prep, so imagine landing a player at the top of your board in the 5th or 6th round because his football awareness is low, and then building that up throughout the seasons

                    Re: JRT2006's Madden Scouting Tool

Interesting note during my draft and scouting research.

I just drafted every attribute of 12 halfbacks. I set my weights on the attributes to what I run and like just for ****s and giggles

Out of 12 halfbacks, the highest rated is projected in round 5 and his player type just so happens to be receiving back, what my tactics are set for.

So the big board would like for me to wait till round 5 to draft my HB, passing up a 1st rounder, 2nd , 3rd and three 4th round projected running backs.

i kind of like that logic

My question is, do you think overalls change with scheme? Say a prospect with 75 catching has a C grade if your scheme asks for possession receivers, and that same 75 catching receiver would have a B grade if you wanted speedy receivers.

That's one thing I didn't put too much into, the grades. I drafted a few guys in the same position, recorded their scouting grades and then their rating for that position and kind of averaged them out.

I'm going to run 2 or 3 drafts tonight and record data for each position, if what you say about different grades per position is correct, that would make a huge improvement to the tool
I was envisioning that it would have to have a grade box for each individual attribute within each page. Like speed for TE would be higher, but leave catching the same type as normal for a TE type of thing (for example).

I don't believe the (but I could be wrong?) catching grade is different based on type or even position for that matter. C would be 75 no matter you set your scheme to or what the player type is.

Here are the results from my draft. Pretty good overall I think. I reached in rounds 2-3 (the guys I wanted I got in 4th/5th) but 68 is pretty good for a Nose Tackle Type (they are so rare it seems).

I didn't scout DEV for anyone, just listed what it came in as

That looks like a pretty good draft if you ask me, found a few gems, landed some good projects in the later rounds, maybe(maybe not, we dont know yet) missed on an early pick.

Did you follow the value ranking all the way through? Drafted the highest valued guy on the board, or did you search for guys that were around that projected round you were picking?

What was your need setting for LT? Wondering if his value was lower because of a need??

                          Spoiler

That or we find a happy medium that fits its attribute, from the looks of it, a B grade could mean anywhere from 65-75 on some attributes, a 10 point spread. most are like that, except F, F is usually 55 and below, by below i mean all the way down to 30.

I'll finish recording my data, save it for tomorrow and keep adding prospects to the scouting research

EDIT: Actually, I think there may just be a really large margin of "guess" in the scouting grades. So large that the rating may dip into another grade's value. A crossover point from F to D, D to C, C to B, and B to A.

                          Something along the lines of F=30-55, D=50-75, C=65-80, B=75-90, and A=85-100

Ok sounds good man maybe I will play around with it a bit too.

In response to the other post - my highest AWR rating on these guys was like in the 60s, some were lower like in the 40s, so there is room to grow there (I didn't scout AWR). None of them will start first season, although a few will sooner rather than later.

Only need setting I applied was 1.03 on DT. But I pretty much drafted based on the value (after need was applied for DT) and what guys were left. I reached on the RT and DT (projected mid 3rd and early 4th) because I figured I'd get some of those others later. The OLB was projected end of 4th, the 4th guys were projected as mid-late 5th. The LT was projected 6th. The MLB was projected UD. So by that point I pretty much knew how the draft was gonna go, I was gonna wait on those later guys. So those 2 were pretty much next highest that was available (with an SS also)

As for the LT, I have it set at 5 Pass Block/Strength, 3 Run Block/Impact, 2 Agi/Acc for LT. He had 'B' for pass block but it came in at 87, 84 RB, 93 STR, 84 IB. My scheme setting on LT is 'pass blocker'.

Damn, 81 OLB that was projected undrafted, thats a hell of a find.

Glad it worked out for you, looks to me like you grabbed a lot of talented players who just need time in the big leagues to get used to the game. I bet that grow to become stars.

My braing hurts from this rating research. I'm out.....will pick up where i left off tomorrow

Wanted to let you know that I found a cb in the 6th with a 78 overall and a undrafted lt at 76. I simply changed the weights to fit my game plan as well. Heavier on power and run block and lighter on pass and impact block. Seems to be fine. That's the way we could make it fit our schemes.
