In-Game Progression Bug Tied To Drive Goals (Will Be Patched, Says Developer) - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

Seriously though I was hoping that this was just a superficial thing. Were the players really balling out with those numbers? Like QB's wouldn't miss a pass at or and RB's were just straight trucking fools? I'm also interested if the other teams attributes get negatively effected and if it continues on into the next week.

Either way I'm glad that they found what was causing it already and it's being corrected. My only other questions is what does the timetable for the patch look like and will we have to restart our CFM's in order for it to take effect.

I'd be surprised if the patch is more than 6 weeks, that is when the first patch came out last year.

As Chase mentioned above, hard to predict if you need to restart at this point, but, based on past history, I doubt it.

I am playing wildcard playoffs im 10-6 eagles vs 10-6 saints

I start game up 20-3 halftime I check the depth chart, all my guys are 90+ every key rating demarco murray has 120 in all key ratings sam bradford a 96 overall i cant be stopped

really sad to see.. in what is otherwise in my opinion an awesome game

update: its now 34-3. i checked the saints ratings. their ratings have actually all gone up, just like mine (though to a FAR lesser extent).

this just makes no sense

How often do you have progression set at? I beat the Falcon 27-3 last night with the Giants and all of my guys stayed the same.

I wonder if weekly progression is a cause?

i believe i have CPU progression at every 4 weeks

for mine i do it manually.

thats interesting it didnt happen to you. mind sharing your franchise settings?

I had progression at every 4 and I changed it to end of the year.

Instant starter on
Coach firing on
CPU progress players on
Simulate Game Prep on

15 minute quarters on all pro with a 15 minute runoff using A & S sliders.

You're saying a developer already re-produced this, so whatever settings you used and the user path you use for progression must be close to the default because it wasn't hard to mimic.

maybe there is something in game prep thats causing the boosts and the CPU sometimes activates it if u have it set for CPU simulated game prep. that could explain why sometimes u get huge boosts and other times u dont. anyone here familiar with game prep and can chime in on this would be appreciated.

here is PM i sent to Rex he sent me message an hour or 2 later saying they reproduced it

it was week 14 of year 1 of offline CFM I had 8-5 record and was coming off a big win the previous week (score was 42-14). non fantasy draft franchise with most up to date rosters i was the Eagles and not controlling any other teams playing on all pro with minor slider adjustments -15 user run block +20 cpu run block. speed threshold 50. game speed normal.

it also happened earlier in the season but i figured it was just some weird glitch. when it happened again under the same circumstances (I had a big lead) is when i realized something was up.

worth noting that I let the cpu catch back up It was 27-0 me and then I let them score 21 points to catch up and the ratings did not go back down.

Thanks for your interest in solving this, I appreciate it a lot. Any more details you need just let me know.

Yeah, that makes sense. I couldn't figure out how confidence would be moving around in-game (prior to this year it doesn't) - I forgot about the drive goals which do exactly that. So it's a bug that was introduced by a new feature.

Since there's no penalty to not completing drive goals, I doubt this is a problem on the cold-streak side.
