    Re: Drag Routes Always Open?

the bigger issue is they've broken their OWN rules. the horrible decision was made to use Commit in an absolute fashion....if you decided to use it vs the run you were completely vulnerable to the pass (having your CBs leave their assignments...kind of...you know...does this) sadly, they couldnt even be consistent with these results.

A more balanced system would have us see subtle, useful and tangible results, but nothing remotely resembling the absolute, automatic TD/interception kind of thing we see now for guessing right or wrong. Instead we should see TFLs, short or no gains, PBUs, deflections, DL batdowns and all the other things that SHOULD happen when we know whats coming. But here again, nothing absolute....knowing the Calvin Johnson is running a fade in the red zone might still result in TD despite double coverage--just less so.
NOTE: Any and ALL of my suggestions are specifically and only related to Play Now Online.

Instead of the shade button, I'd prefer if the individual defensive hot route let you pick a side of the wide out and have the DB attempt to jump routes to that side. So for the #1 wideout in his traditional spot on the right side of the offense, an individual hot route UP would tell the DB to stay deep at all costs and give you an advantage against breaking up Gos. DOWN would say jump underneath routes like Curls and hooks. LEFT would jump in-breaking routes like Posts, ins, slants, and drags. RIGHT would cover out-breaking routes like Outs, Zigs, Comebacks, and Flags. IF you guessed right, your player would have a much better chance of cutting off the route. If you guessed wrong your guy would overcommit out of position, and if you guessed the opposite side he would be way out of position.

It would also make double-move routes much more useful then they are right now, because if you can get a guy jumping slants then a Sluggo route should destroy him. Ditto things like a stop and go or an out and up.

I admit it's a lot more videogamey, but if we're not going to get the football parts right then at least get the video game parts right.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

I want to touch on this.

In the aggregate yes, we should be rewarded. But that does not mean every single time. Even if a coach calls a perfect play for what the offense is doing there is the chance that one of the defenders misses their assignment. It happens, and I think part of the sim mindset is being happy with that.

Obviously, as it stands now we're 100% going to give up a slant even if shading inside.

How the blinders are on for this I have no idea.

Because I showed a video earlier that your comment of "100% going to give up a slant even if shading inside." is FALSE.

Speaking of "blinders", I have stated numerous times it needs tweaking. It is the other crop of guys such as yourself that come off with the sky is falling type of posts. You have this very black or white mindset to your posts which you have continued to state that it is completely broken. It has been shown and talked about from others here that it is surely not broken. It might not meet your outlook on function but its not completely broken, thus in return you get others just stating this. Whether you choose to stand more near a neutral ground is on you. I favor the "it can be improved" camp, but surely not screaming from the heavens, THIS GAME IS BROKEN!

May have something to do with the other side using hyperbole.

How so? It's a mechanic that just simply does nothing.

TE flag route against a safety in man is the end all be all to this debate

It is hyperbole because of your use of 100%. Phobia has posted vids of the the route being stopped. That alone defeats your 100% claim.

Of course you will contend that obviously you did not actually mean 100% (hence hyperbole), but if that is the case we don't really know what you mean.

That is why we have "blinders" on; we are blinded by your use of hyperbole.

Definitely a bit of an overreaction. It doesn't work as consistent as it should be but its not completely broken and unusable by any means
