Its really sad to see when the gameplay has so much potential.
Oh it is! They spent so much resources working on a feature that nobody asked for (while ignoring stuff everyone wants) only to have this feature be so poorly implemented that it makes the mode nearly unplayable for most without some kind of crazy workaround.

On another note, a question about this method. When I "retire" the opposite coach does the coach actually retire or is it just the user that retires. Ex. If I play the Bills and retire the opposite coach, is Rex Ryan still the coach of the Bills the next week going forward or do they hire a new guy after that?

The coach stays, you're essentially retiring your control over them. They don't go anywhere.

I had this same question. You want to make sure you select "active coach" each time you create a new human coach otherwise If you choose create a new coach then the previous coach really does retire.

You will see a news article each time saying coach so and so walked away from the game but when double checking the team you'll see original coach is still there

Ok, so I basically just take control of the CPU head coach for the duration of the game. Take control right before the game and then retire the user right after making the coach CPU again? I so, thats pretty easy and straightforward.

However, its still BS that we have to do this kind of thing.

and this doesn't have any negative effect on CFM as a whole? Honestly, I never even check the news articles anymore, they're so useless and generic.

So just to confirm I've got this crystal clear - here's how I should start my offline CFM:

              1. Choose my team (Rams) and play as owner
              2. Set CPU progression to weekly or monthly (to help alleviate QB awr issues)
              3. Sim preseason as per normal
              4. Week 1 I create a new coach for the team I'm about to play (by pressing R3 if I'm correct?)
              5. Play the game and once the game is finished I retire the coach and then sim the rest of the week
              6. Repeat step 4 and 5

              Am I correct?
Any other settings I need to touch like auto subs?
Any tips for the LT sack issue?
So I attempted to do this but instead of being the owner for the team I intend to control I set myself up as the coach. After one game my QB had a rating near 100 but his confidence stayed put at 49.

Booker will I be okay or am I getting a false sense of security because it was only one game?

Im not sure if I follow you. You say that your ratings went up to close to 99 with confidence at 49. That is wired. Ratings doesn't go up unless you get confidence around 60+.

Also if your rating hits 99 it's because he was already close to 99. Usually ratings increase by confidence are 2 to 5 at most.

Could you share a screenshot? Showing the ratings and his confidence? To see what's going on?

I think he ment the QB had a QB rating (not an atribute rating) over 100, meaning he had a good game stat wise.

Yes Booker, it was my quarterback rating for that one game. Everything looks good as far as confidence and the player's overall ratings, it's just that my user controlled team has me as a coach rather than owner in CFM.

                        Oh ok my bad.

yeah it should work, owner or coach, it´s the same. Just as a note for everyone, you are not going to see you confidence rating change during your game. With Drive goals, you would see +1 when the goal was achieved. The way it is now, you won´t see this at all. You will only see XP pops up.

This is happening because Confidence is not applied until the next game. So your QB was 49, and even if he threw 3tds did 300yds and won the season game he will be still 49 during the whole game. After the game ends. Go to player confidence changes and there you will see the changes, it should say
                        Threw TD +1
                        I had over 300yds +2
                        etc
                        etec

                        Changes +X

On the next game or even on the roster you should see the new confidence Rating.

                        Make sense?

Personally i´m not doing anything. The LT sacks i can deal with it. it´s not all LT having this. I´m playing without the turner and penalties at 55. For some weird reason i´m having much more realistic and organic games with these settings than with the tuner. I know, it´s crazy i don´t have evidence to show, but i based my decision on the games i did played and that is what i decided. I see more Overthrows and less automatic game, but this has nothing to do with the confidence workaround so i will just shut up

Yes and thank you. I checked the player's ratings after the game was complete and the CFM had a new save point and confidence was still at 49.

(For the record the QB was EJ Manuel and his stats were 11/16 with 2 TDs and 0 Ints. I was pleased to see the confidence stay at 49).

Brooklyn - Yes the fix that Booker has articulated was meant for *you* team to be as an owner and the team you play against each week to be coaches.

It looks / sounds like coach and coach will work as well.
