I may be wrong but I'm anticipating something about ea sports going to frostbite and maybe a timeline being announced at EA Play. Hopefully a teaser of Madden, NHL, NBA Live, on Frostbite but who knows

And I already know what you are gonna say. They haven't shown you anything to be excited about. Well I believe this newish team has shown us plenty to be excited about. So I think I speak for a lot of people in here when I say this is exciting and we have confidence in this team to get it done right.

But you are entitled to your opinion so I'm not gonna tell you what you can or can't think about this. I just choose to see this as a huge positive for the series.
I mean every year THIS is supposed to be the year for madden, I see no problem with skepticism

Definitely what they should do. Likely won't happen, but it would be nice.

Skepticism can become an agenda pretty easily if you aren't careful.

This right here I don't get, most people that are excited or optimistic about the potential of Frostbite, comes from their desire to have a better football game, an agenda any reasonable gamers share. So yes I have that "agenda" of wanting a better football game, I'm just skeptical that Frostbite is enough to provide that until I see it for myself.

I really don't see how that's negative, if anyone were to check my post history, they will see various points and times I have been excited and optimistic about things surrounding Madden, that often didn't pan out as hoped. So now instead of getting ahead of myself, I try to stay tempered or even err on the side pessimism as not to be disappointed. It's unfortunate no matter how verbose I am in my posts explaining exactly why I have the opinion I do and how many times I actually give credit to the game where I feel credit is due, some choose to believe I have some absurd anti-Madden "agenda".

Im sure they are building with the new changes. They know they cant do that especially since their shouldn't be a console change by then

Fair enough. Like I said you can have an opinion. And I'm also not saying you can't be skeptical. I think we all are to a point. And I wasn't accusing you personally of having an agenda. And I know that also goes both ways.

I just think you are overly negative at times, but that's just my opinion.

I know you want a great football game and I know you are passionate about it. It's just that sometimes I think we all could express what we want better.

But I don't want to derail the thread. So I'm sorry if you felt I was bashing you in any way.

I could see madden reusing old code to keep certain features intact but I would rather they rebuild from scratch and have madden be barebones. Well see real soon with Fifa 17 will they reuse old code and will their game continue to suffer from legacy issues despite a new engine.

Just really doesn't make any sense to do that just to be able to say they did it. They'll port what they can/makes sense and then take advantage of the tools and capabilities Frostbite provides from there.

These threads when they come up remind me of this blog Ian posted - Please stop asking for a new engine.

Here's a list of games using Frostbite, and here's the Battlefield guys pimping it.

EDIT: Also, it appears that Ignite is nothing more than an internal sharing engine that allows them to more easily share tech between in-house games. I remember Cam Weber said as much during an IGN interview about Ignite.

See this illustrates kind of what I'm trying to say though, we have no idea what using Frostbite for Madden is going to really mean. For example, does Frostbite mean that they will be doing things like completely rewriting the line play so the online and dline are independent, that would be something to get excited about, imo, no matter how it actually turned out. So an article saying Madden will get Frostbite, maybe fun to speculate about but it doesn't have much substance for us to go on.

What's interesting to me is the article says FIFA is going to lead the transition of ea sports titles on Frostbite, Rory McIlroy was on Frostbite but maybe it's a different implementation being used that is a full implementation vs Frostbite elements being added.

This video says Rory McIlroy with Frostbite integration https://youtu.be/DT_4a7aEOC0

It wouldn't surprise me if its not a full integration of the frostbite engine but an implementation of certain things like lighting, weather effects, field degradation, upgrade sidelines, upgrade to physics and true step for all players

All for all of those things regardless
