I'm interested to see how Frostbite changes FIFA. I don't play FIFA, so I probably wouldn't know the differences, unless they're groundbreaking for sports games. I'm someone who thinks Madden should be rebuilt, but who knows how many changes bringing it over to a new engine will make for. Some engines just don't work for certain things, and some engines open up amazing possibilities never before seen in certain genres. Will be an interesting venture, for sure...

Being I have no knowledge of programming but know the "old code" is holding game back..can someone with knowledge (programming background) explain what we could expect from this engine..for me the simple minded guy who only knows how to true a console on lol thanks

Surprised that no one has commented on the speculation that given the short term development cycles utilized by sports titles, some game features could be missing for a year or so as the transition takes place. I don't know about you, but I think this would be a catastrophic mistake for the Madden franchise. We are already faced with a game that lacks features that were present over a decade ago. I would rather sacrifice a year or even two on the Frostbite engine such that when the time comes, we get a whole and complete Madden complete with a full litany of features.

I would be just fine waiting 2 or 3 years before the implement the Frostbite engine if that means they're putting their focus on adding in more features like we had before.

The ability to finally implement true step for all 22 players? One could only hope.

I like the way FIFA handles player movement and momentum. FIFA players plant their feet to make cuts, and also have the ability to come to a slow jog, slow run. Players actually able to stand upright I think, at least world's better than Madden. I don't see motion shifting in FIFA. If a defender gets beat, he gets beat because footplant prevents magical defensive recovery ability. The ball seems to be independent of the players. You can essentially pass the ball to whatever spot you want. The ball is free to be intercepted by the defense or received by the offensive player.

I think any speculation there is a new engine this year is nonsense. We have seen enough gameplay to see its still the Ignite engine. I think his favorite feature was likely a presentation based one, and my money is on a dynamic and engaged crowd that "OOOOS" and "AAAAAS" but that's just pure guesswork on my part.

Lol it's an engine that changes how the game animates, it also adds things like physics, lighting effects etc
