I guess I'm one of those who don't really care when we get gameplay videos.

I never preorder videogames. Well I guess going into gamestop 3 days prior to release counts as a preorder, but I'm never a week early.

So to me it doesn't matter if they show gameplay 2 months or 2 weeks prior to release.

In fact I'd say that showing it too soon is more harmful than showing it late. It may be an early build that is not polished so I may be less inclined to get it. Show it to me closer to launch and I'm going to go into anticipation overload.

I will say this though, regardless of when gameplay is first shown, I want it to be via a developer livestream or video blog. I don't like watching random youtubers, shaky cams, or other cheesers playing the game. It hurts my football sensibilities guys.

Awesome. I really loved when they did that big gameplay stream a couple years ago, and I was hoping it would be a yearly thing. But I don't remember them doing that the last two years. Or at least not at the same level.

Aside from showing off the game what I loved about it was that it offered a good glimpse into what Rex still thinks needs a lot of improvement.

I think we all know why there hasn't been much innovation or "urgency" from Madden in a very long time, it's just a topic that tends to get avoided for whatever reason. It all 100% boils down to there being absolutely NO competition to worry them or push them forward. I unfortunately whole heartedly believe that we will not see any true improvement or innovation from Madden until (if ever) the exclusive license with EA expires. It simply doesn't make financial sense to the suits at EA, and from a business perspective, makes total sense. Why put EXTRA money and time into something that will sell millions regardless of what you do? Sad but true fellas.

Here's my take...sometimes, marketing for big companies just make mistakes. And there's a dozen different things that could be going on - they might think this will hype gamers more, or they might have a bunch of new faces in that department who think the way they marketed things elsewhere will also work here - it could be anything.

It's the same reason why big companies sometimes market something in an offensive way, and are then forced to apologize for it...they didn't necessarily mean to offend, it just kinda happened. And I think that's what we're seeing here. I don't believe there's anything wrong with the game, I don't believe they are trying to hide it...marketing is just making a mistake. One that I think will be corrected next year if this years plan doesn't yield amazing results.

I'm not concerned about gameplay vids, I'm buying it anyway...but I think it just boils down to a mistake was made. They'll right the ship next year.

I'm not worried. I don't like the strategy of withholding gameplay until very end because community can give early feedback instead of waiting until the second patch to address problems. But that is how it is now.

But for me, my initial hype for Madden has fell a lot. Not really from lack of gameplay, just my opinion. With NBA 2k and Live coming out next month, they are starting to roll out info. So they are both stealing my attention from Madden. I rather them dropped the CFM info already since we know Gameplay will be last. A '6 page CFM blog" wouldn't be that much in a singular layout with pics. Especially when it is known that not too much was done

Someone saying they don't care about a lack of video's doesn't mean they don't care about the game and they have just as much a right to voice their opinion as you do.

These are the kind of thoughts that divide this community rather than bringing it together.

Rest of your post was fine and thoughtful but why the need to take an unnecessary jab at those who aren't worried about not seeing footage yet?

Perhaps I could have held those lines out, but it sure seems like the ones who DO care are being treated like they're lesser people because of their concern and desire for videos.

Yeah it blows CFM might not be as fleshed out as some of us may like but I'm not upset that I haven't seen a video. If it means that much to see videos I'm confused why you guys don't just wait until release and read reviews or things of the like.

I can watch all the videos I want but if someone doesn't play like I do then it won't mean anything to me. I gotta play and feel the game before I can make that judgement call.

Interesting. 17 was the first EA football game in forever that gave me some variety. I had more games where both myself and the CPU scored under 21 points in '17 than I probably had in the previous decade combined. Loved those 17-13 games I got in '17.

Ever year before that, both Madden and EA was shootout after shootout where possessions either ended in a score or a turnover probably 85% of the time. I had a few games in '17 where I didn't score in the first half without turning the ball over. It was nice to experience.

Thank you, I thought I was on a deserted island, lol.

I just had another great game last evening after not firing Madden up for quite awhile. Packers beat the Panthers without CPU cheat mode kicking in.

Plus, extra bonus, Cam scrambled and took off running a few times.

Final score, 31 to 21.
