Thank you, I thought I was on a deserted island, lol.

I just had another great game last evening after not firing Madden up for quite awhile. Packers beat the Panthers without CPU cheat mode kicking in.

Plus, extra bonus, Cam scrambled and took off running a few times.

Final score, 31 to 21.

I think there are a lot more people who feel that way than one might think, it's just less of a hassle to talk about how much you enjoy a game in threads like the, "how's your CFM going thread" than in general threads that are basically create to express skepticism or to revisit the classic Madden gripes.

You know I'm right there with you road. I even get a little carried away saying it's the best sports game ever lol! But seriously, it really is up there for me. Main thing is, never had so much fun, for such a long of a time. I'm usually done with Madden after the SB. If not right before it. I played at least 3 months after. Every single day.

Interesting. 17 was the first EA football game in forever that gave me some variety. I had more games where both myself and the CPU scored under 21 points in '17 than I probably had in the previous decade combined. Loved those 17-13 games I got in '17.

Ever year before that, both Madden and EA was shootout after shootout where possessions either ended in a score or a turnover probably 85% of the time. I had a few games in '17 where I didn't score in the first half without turning the ball over. It was nice to experience.

Same. And against good teams, and division rivals, I had some epic games. I will always remember at least 5 games I had this year. Coming down to the last seconds. I don't know if I will ever forget them. I'm not sure if I ever got that from Madden before. And I've been playing since the first one on Sega.

I really couldn't stand M17. I felt every game played the same and it drove me nuts.

See I didn't have that with 17.

Either way 16 was an excellent game as well.

From what I remember hearing, EA wanted it on PS4 as well. But Sony wasn't interested. I think they cited PS Now as being their big thing, and that's why they turned it down.

Not concerned. Not in the slightest. At least not because of that. What concerns me is that the focus is on Longshot and Rex made it sound like that took the priority away from CFM. That's me reading into his interviews around E3 a bit.
But this method makes sense if the suits are wanting to ride Longshot for new buyers, but also trying to appease the community by releasing footage through YouTubers and Streamers. They aren't going to have these guys recording video with it in alpha or beta builds, so it has to come later than normal.
They really thought bringing in influential community guys from YouTube would be a way to connect with the core fan, but I don't think that's working out for them the way they hoped. I have no doubt the game is going to look good and the gameplay is going to be improved.

Whether are not they repeat this marketing tactic going forward will of course come down to net sales numbers for the year, Longshot usage, and what type of retention/increase occurs with CFM.

We live in a time now when reviewers for the bigger gaming sites like to send messages with their reviews scores. They shouldn't be, but they're influenced by the ancillary drama surrounding the marketing/development of a game in the same way that many consumers are. Will Longshot boost the metacritic score more than the CFM negligence lowers it?

Marketing has indeed taken a gamble, we see if it pays off for them.

I just felt no matter what team I played they played the same type of game. There isn't much variation between players IMO. Also the robo QB, to me, was real. Got tired of the only incomplete passes being the throw away variety.

I didn't see any footage other than a trailer, and we still don't know exactly what type of gameplay we'll be seeing during long shot. Someone please point me in right direction if I'm wrong or off......

I agree. With them saying they wanted to start with Longshot. But outside of the intial information and basic concepts blogs, there has been nothing else(besides some basic articles).
At least they could have showed a 5 minute video of Long shot. Just so we get an idea how it will look

I'm not terribly active in this part of OS but I do play Madden, been playing since 95 so I'm a young one haha. Anyway, as far as gameplay videos go it would be nice to see them but I'm more of a "gotta see it/experience it" for myself person. Sure gameplay may look nice and all but my personal experience with the game will impact my purchase. However because I'm in two online leagues I'll be getting it anyways lmao.

Yep, we definitely would love to see some gameplay video in advance. Some more than others. Some are more concerned than others for lack of vids.

Ok, yes. Every team no doubt plays the same. That's one of my biggest wishes for the game. I keep my wish list simple by the way. Teams play like they do IRL.

But he biggest difference, in my experience, great teams with great players translated very well. Perhaps the best ever. Great QB's put 400 yds passing on me. Bad ones threw for under 200 yds. Great CPU WR's burned me... Etc for most every position. Now it was not because teams played different. Teams no doubt all play the exact same way. It's just that teams got better results from their star players.

This was something I heard was addressed.
