There are a lot more than just 3-400 offline CFM players. There's more than that on OS alone. Even if it was just 3-400 that many lost sales for a company would mean something. It doesn't matter if they sell in the millions, companies care about lost sales period. That is 400 people who won't spend at a minimum $60 on the game. 400 people who also won't spend any money on MUT ( I know a lot of offline CFM guys who also play MUT and spend a lot of money in it). Not buying the game has a much bigger impact than complaining on a forum or blog but still buying it anyways (not single anyone out with that line, just saying in general)

Re: As a community we cannot accept the current CPU QB play.
It falls on deaf ears because this community buys the game EVERY YEAR no matter what.
I buy the game because while it isnt perfect, Its solid enough to deserve my $60 each year. The year it wasnt, the first year of CFM, I didnt buy it.
If one year this community took a stand and said "We arent buying the game", I promise you they would take notice. Their sales wouldnt drop significantly but I promise you, EA would take notice and would put some of its focus on getting this community back.
I'm a huge UFC fan and there is only one MMA game for purchase. If that game spent version after version ignoring the additions that offline gamers want, I would quit being a gamechanger and never buy the game.
Its that simple. Dont buy the game or buy it used a week from now if things like the QB AI and Zone coverage issues are big enough deals. No one is forcing you to buy the game on release day. No one.
I know my $60 doesn't mean much to then. However, I'm hopeful that enough people are willing to hold Madden accountable this season and boycott it until we see some real change, and until they quit hemorrhaging resources from Madden to compete with 2k and revive a just as stale EA basketball title.Comment

It appears we have the same sentiment.

I agree, if people aren't happy with what Madden is producing up to this point, wait a week or more.Comment

But that is good that Live is exceeding expectations. That just proves Madden can do it to.Last edited by Toupal; 08-14-2017, 01:19 AM.Comment

Does this look familiar? It's from Madden 17.

No? Well here's Madden 18:

"What's the problem though? Seems like QB's moving isn't really an issue."
The problem is that QB's moving is already extremely rare as it is and more often than not when they do finally end up doing it, they are completely oblivious to anything logical and do everything they can to not scramble or make good decisions.

Based off the M18 vids I'm going to say that it will likely be very, very similar to Madden 17 which was not good at all. We can wait to play 18 and then start-up another 25+ page thread showing all the same examples we did last year but I'd say chances are minimal of changing such a substantial issue with a patch or tuner which is really unfortunate for such an integral part of a football game.Comment

Re: As a community we cannot accept the current CPU QB play.
Just isn't football. I'll pass based on the gifs above. Sorry but FIFA is killing Madden at this point. I rather not play a football game and I never thought I'd say that back when I was slidering Madden 12-15 to death.
I do have EA access so i will play it but the consistent 5+ second pockets and bad QB AI makes playing the CPU worthless to me. It may be great head to head so I'll give it a shot for that but hardly worth buying when I will be knee deep in FIFA a month later.Last edited by wordtobigbird; 08-14-2017, 04:26 AM.Comment

I've seen or felt no progress since that point tbh. Especially regarding legacy issues stemming from how badly coded this game seems to be.Comment

As a community we cannot accept the current CPU QB play.
In the past I have suggested similar measures and had my threads shut down etc.
Not to mention I know those EA guys are on this board and read these threads, heck you see them commenting in threads praising the game, but a thread like this? They won't go anywhere near it.
EDIT: That was not a shot at the mods, just making the point that making downright negative threads saying "Don't buy the game" will get you nowhere.
The reason devs won't come near a thread like this is because it has delved into the same discussion nearly every other thread has.
The title says we can't accept the current AI quarterback play, and I don't disagree. Yet that has hardly been discussed in this thread.Comment

Re: As a community we cannot accept the current CPU QB play.
I've been watching videos over again and there is times in each video where the QB AI moves around the pocket to avoid pressure. I think the problem with the QB AI is that it's not consistent enough. On one play we see the AI just stand still in the pocket until someone gets open or he gets sacked but then on the very next play the AI rolls out to avoid pressure and completes a pass. I'm hoping they can fix it with a tuner update on day 1 but I know that's not likely to happen.Comment

Re: As a community we cannot accept the current CPU QB play.
That would be horrible considering in 17 they threw the ball away way too much as it was. It's important to note that this is so much more than just the QB standing still in the pocket issue, it's an entire QB AI issue. QB AI is bad pretty much all around and this is just part of that. Another extension of this issue is the fact that QB's don't ever scramble. It's one thing for a guy like Brady to be a statue in the pocket, it's entirely another to watch guys like Russell Wilson, Kaepernick, or Mariota to never even attempt to look to use their legs. It's not being overblown and this has nothing to do with there being too many sacks or sacks just looking bad, it has to do with all around poor QB AI and we don't need to play it to understand it's likely much like M17 in that regard.

Heh, I'd be hard pressed to find anybody who can justify that there's nothing wrong in those clips.
There's truly no excuse for those QBs behaving the way they did in those clips.
As the QB is the head of an offense, carries the ball before any other player on that offense - his actions are going to be center-stage on every down. In a video game, this is no different.
I just don't understand how EA, who is developing the game, as well as testing it, are observing these QBs acting a fool - and are sincerely okay with delivering this to consumers.
The last time I've turned away from Madden was when I found out they've done away with the CPU vs CPU in Franchise. Even though it's back - I'm still unsure whether I want to purchase '18, because this glaring problem makes you question how many more subtle problems they've overlooked.Comment
