IMO the main problem is the AI (single user) play and not CFM. Issues like Robo QB, lack of QB AI awareness, defensive coverage issues, lack of CPU AI in general etc. is what's the issue and I don't think the most feature rich CFM can make up for lack of gameplay related issues mentioned earlier. Hopefully various game-style modes introduced this year ('Simuation', 'Arcade', 'Competitive') start working better next year with an improved gameplay experience coz I sure would not pay extra for EA to fix the game's AI.

"Hey guys we would like to work on a new DLC for you CFM guys! We will work on the QB AI, and playcalling, and of course improve coverage and the legacy gameplay issues! Would you pay 10 bucks for that?"
Umm. No? I mean, shouldnt that be "In the game" like you keep telling us it is? Isnt that your JOB?Comment

Yeah if they were to say:

The CFM improvements won't count for much unless gameplay and AI issues are fixed.Comment

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
I think one of the bigger problems that's not really touched on is that EA's marketing has changed, I think. My first Madden was 2001 and there seemed to be a more maturer aura about the older titles. Now that more people under 18 are playing Madden, I think they've dumbed down their approach and have basically said:
"oH yOU waNT fOOtBaLL? hERe's SOme bells and whistles that aren't really useful."
What also would help is if they had more competi-...
That's another post for another rainy day.

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
Here's a thought... why don't you fix these things in the REGULAR game instead of adding 10 new modes to MUT which IMHO is the most useless waste of time. Then they throw it in your face EVERY TIME you load up the game, like I don't give a flying f*** what player is "now available" in packs. I agree with others, make MUT a separate game and lower the price. The reason that they don't do that is that they need a cool new feature to promote every year, and somehow "Now with fewer bugs" doesn't seem to market well.---------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
I think the idea of adding paid for content to cfm is not a bad idea under the following premise. If the premise is that EA allocates resources based on revenue generated, then yes add micro transactions. This would be for things like coach upgrades, uniforms and the like but not for gameplay like QB AI. But perhaps if CFM brought in $$$ like MUT it would get more attention and improvements would be made. I would hope this would also come with a price reduction of the main game to something like $40.

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
Madden is a product in the NFL, and the NFL has made a huge push in recent years to acquire newer fans.
They have made a stronger push to market to women, kids, and other countries (Mexico and UK) in order to obtain a newer fan base.
Similarly we have seen Madden take a similar approach to marketing towards a newer crowd that does not understand football near as well as someone in the OS community... Madden is always going to sell to the diehard NFL fans and the people who have played Madden for multiple years and buy it almost every year. So there is no need to appease to them,
However adding features like longshot, MUT, and draft champions was meant to attract a different kind of player. Madden is all about appealing to the casual fan, because no matter how much you play the game, as long as you buy it, it is $60 i that companies pocket.Comment

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
I ain't paying **** for a feature that's been in the game for 20 years. The day they charge for CFM is the day I stop playing Madden.
It's a shame that some of us have suffered to the point that this seems like a reasonable option. May as well start a GoFundMadden page.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
I think Madden is in a unique position of having risen to iconic status early in its life, before the technology could really faithfully power the complex AI and physics of American Football. It filled a need for a hugely popular sport in the US and a moderately popular sport in other countries, but it had to resort to a somewhat vague abstraction of the real sport due to technology limitations, and probably other limitations (how long has Madden really had football experts involved in the development process?). Nonetheless the game became complex enough that its yearly release schedule would not allow for complete rewrites, so assumptions made 5 iterations ago persisted, shortcuts and hacks never seemed to reach the top of the priority list, and it all became part of the Madden brand of football.
Gamers - lots of them - then came to know this abstraction of the NFL as a variation of the sport that could only exist virtually, but with all the trademarks they're used to, and may arguably be Madden fans before NFL fans. Fast forward to today, and now EA's own branch of the NFL is too ingrained to risk losing.

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
I would if the DLC was incredibly in depth. However the question would have to be asked, if 2K can create a deep franchise mode and career mode in the base game, then why can't EA. If they essentially released NFL Head Coach as DLC then I'd happily pay $30 (Australian) for it.Comment

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
$60 is enough. They should be able to make a game with a CFM worth playing for that much. If 2k and the show can do it then so can Madden. They don't need more money, they need more commitment to this game mode.Comment

Definitely I would pay up to 20 bucks for some new features. It does feel the same as it has for years.Comment

Re: Question: would you pay extra for enhanced CFM?
I really don't think EA would feel any pain financially if they just dropped CFM.
MUT gets almost daily updates with content because it produces revenue.
