On the theme of the thread - Draft stories are missing. It's week 8 and I have 0 draft stories in my franchise. Same happened in year 1. Nothing until the late season/offseason. You're telling me that 9 weeks of college football resulted in 0 story lines? Not a chance. The biggest draft news item is the #1 overall pick from the previous draft being selected by the Vikings... 6 months ago... lol

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
I don’t disagree with you but I think even older players (like me) who only have time to put in maybe 5-10 hours a week are getting frustrated because the main features simply don’t work. We put up with incredibly stupid bugs, unrealistic results and minimal features back in the day but…the games worked.
Right now, I’m not super bothered by strange CPU decisions, bad game plans etc. but I expect when I put an hour or so into a game it won’t crash (every time). Heck I can put up with not being able to scout OLBs but really…are you kidding me with that omission?
Front Page Sports Football 99’s bugs killed the best football franchise of its era. This iteration of Madden may not be as bad as that but it’s pretty damning for the franchise. Heck, I’m hesitant to dedicate any more time to playing until I can feel certain it won’t be a waste of the time I have.
I will say I haven't had a lot of bug issues but the one I did have caused the online CFM I was playing (again because offline CFM is in such a horrible state for "real football fans") to be completely lost and unrecoverable.
I've played maybe 6 or 7 games of the game so maybe that's why I haven't had as many bugs as most. This is the most time I've spent with a Madden title since Madden 18. Then as it is now, the main reason is because I'm positive the engineers responsible for coding sim stats for offline franchise mode are completely oblivious to football.
There are very basic gameplan and coach decision options from a high level missing in this game that would lead to better immersion. The issue is they're cramming too much unneccasary/non-football content into the game to justify the price and ultimately drive CFM players to the online modes when CFM doesn't work properly.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
Just wait until you can pick a position focus for each region and scout either ROLB or LOLB. You won't get the bonus (which, if we're being honest, is fairly minimal anyway) from having a scout with that "specialty, but you can still scout them. I may be mistaken, as I ended up scouting other positions, but I think I remember ROLB and LOLB being an option.
It's incredibly annoying you can't just scout them as "OLBs" and have to pick either R or L--Madden needs to catch up on how they treat positions (Sam, Will, Mike, and distinguishing between types of DTs on the depth chart), but I guess that's a discussion for another day.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
People want 2K to have it back. Considering how the NBA2K series has been circling the drain and the 2K wrestling games are some of the worst in any genre, I'm not sure it would be what people are expecting. Even once celebrated developers like CD Projekt Red have turned into trash.
Now 2K does not completely ignore their sim community. They put real quality of life changes and mechanisms in the MyNBA mode to give players options of how they want to play. Madden has less franchise options than the first full release 2K basketball on last gen. This is the first full release Madden on next gen and it has the same issues it's had since last gen and most importantly since MUT became a thing.
I personally haven't bought Madden full price in nearly a decade. I have a GameFly membership and every year I get the game at launch. See that they still haven't fixed the legacy issues with sim stats, haven't made 32 team control easily accessible, haven't updated coaching staffs (until thus year of which it's still a joke), haven't given me more control of gameplanning with my coach and they still haven't fixed zone defensive coverage and I end up sending it back within a week. This year I gave it chance and it is okay. However many of the issues I just named persist and make the experience of the game much less interesting for me.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
The people I talk to in the Sim community are mostly pleased with NBA 2K games. It's the casual/online community who are the loudest in that games community. All game publishers are greedy overlords, let's get that out of the way.

As far as the MyNBA franchise mode goes, while they do add features and options, there are a lot of complaints about the same bugs in the mode being there every year.Comment

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
Looking at the NBA 2k forums over the years, it sure seems to me that A LOT of sim gamers are complaining about 2K ruining the gameplay every year through patches that cater to the online casuals.

The sim stats issue in offline CFM has no workaround and is one the biggest, non starters for me.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
Injury shouldn’t be a number. It should be a list of health issues the player has had, and a medical report from the combine or something like that.

That'll work best when the medical/body heatmap comes :PComment

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
Ok, so i've gone through 2 drafts now with the new scouting feature. Is it now easier to find hidden development players? I've drafted a total of 6 players with hidden development (3 in each draft). I dont feel i'm doing anything special. Either that, or im the next Bill Parcells. This is how ive basically treated each draft.
1) I assign the scouts the best i can for the positions i know i want to go after.
2) I don't even read or use the scouting notes. Nice addition, but they are repetitive and dont offer much help IMO.
3) I look at the (athletic ratings) and quickly glance to see how many "Great" or "Elite" categories they have. If its a corner or WR or a HB i try to find guys that have at least great or elite speed, then check the rest to make sure nothing says "poor" under any other categories. If its all good i give them a favorite tag.
4) I never look at the mock drafts - useless IMO.
5) Once the combine results come out if you just cross reference the athletic abilties to the results and the player has mostly top 5 rankings in his categories (for instance #1 in his 40 time, #1 in 3 cone drill, #3 in bench press) and his athletic abilities are all great/elite than 9 out of 10 times that player is going to be a hidden development player.
6) I look at the unlocked ratings just to be sure nothing is a D or an F. If your seeing A's and B's you know your good.
7) If i take my time looking at all the players deep in the draft usually i can find the gems hidden deep. Ill sometimes draft them 2 rounds earlier than projected just to be sure i get them.
Just curious if you guys are also finding the hidden development players as easy as I am. I'm not sure what they can add to make it a little more challenging. Maybe mix in some players that dont have good ratings to also have the star and superstar development trait? And if you have good coaching they accelerate really fast in their development if you are giving them playing time? I also feel they definitely need to add some sort of facility workout mode/ or practice drill mode that gives you a little more control on what players you want to focus on developing. Not just a simulation of a workout and wait for the results.Comment

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
I've been getting good at picking hidden players with this update as well. I would love it if every player is hidden development until 500 snaps. I'd take it a bit further and not provide the xp info, or any upgrades for the player until they reach 500 snaps.Comment

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
Just my $.02...
No scouting LT, RT, LG, RG, etc... Either make it just OL or at least T, G, C (same for safety DE, OLB).
Have a way to designate what round you'd be placing a prospect on your board instead of that crappy "Hold A" and drag method.
Some way to do side by side comparisons between multiple draft picks at a given position.Comment

I agree with all of this. It would also be good to group DEs and blitzing LBs and stuff like that.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
A LOT is missing from it. The idea is there but the implementation and execution falls well short. Having the ability to only scout 5 positions throughout the year is horrible. The scouts (regardless of tier) can never scout the proper attributes for the position at hand. And the incredible difficulty there is to actually draft talent takes away the excitement of drafting.Comment

Yeah, i know they’re trying to simulate the difficulty of drafting, but there’s something really dumb about sending my scout to go scout a WR, and he comes back with their Pass Block rating before anything else.
Personally, I like the idea of scouts coming back with a complete set of ratings, but have it be potentially low accuracy based on the scout’s ability level and amount of time scouting the player.

Re: Things missing from Scouting Update
I actually think the previous scouting method was a more accurate representation of scouting since scouting actually led to finding out important data (not the spin move of a QB). It was just too easy to know too much with the previous version. If they just gave you physical traits like they do now to allow you to be more selective on who to scout, than reduced the scouting points in half so you couldn't basically scout every prospect, that would be an ideal mix between the two. Because as is, the new scouting method is terrible, and even at best if you got decent info (you don't) its incredibly boring. As someone who looks at the draft as my favorite part of franchise, I can't believe how much this update ruined franchise for me to be honest. I just have no desire to engage in it, because I know in the end it just comes down to a lottery by drafting based on combine numbers, so why put in any time. I just wait for the draft at this point and look for people with decent combine numbers who are available each pick.Comment
