It was said in this thread that the Player Speed Threshold slider is NFL Accurate at 95. Can anyone else confirm that they've also heard this or know this to be true?

There’s some good testing threads but for most years it’s between 75-95. Usually towards the higher end

0 is by far the best setting as fast players can break away from the slowest players. Linemen catching up with a corner on a pick is not realistic. 0 is the bestComment

Re: Madden NFL 23 Patch #3 Available – Patch Notes
I like having a lower speed threshold number, but 0 is too low. With 0 it is way too easy to just lob bombs to Tyreek Hill for a touchdown every single play since there are very few 99 speed CBs.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 23 Patch #3 Available – Patch Notes
I think higher numbers makes the game more "balanced" but man, in the real nfl speed kills and nothing breaks the immersion more than having WRs get run down from behind by LBs. Still, if you go with a lower setting you get more "wide open" gameplay but you lose the feeling of defensive battles and the outcomes seem less genuine.
I posted about something like this in another thread. Since the patch All Pro feels better than ever and it is more competitive against the CPU, but I can't help but feel like it is more contained? I'm not seeing any big running plays, few big passing plays.....kickoff returns are back to being a non threat again. Still....the outcome of the games seem real but how we get there feels a little inorganic to me.
I'm still loving the patch but not sure if I like the slight change of how it feels. Or perhaps that's more that I have moved up to All Pro from Pro and the CPU is getting a boost of some sort that doesn't look quite right to me.
Rant over. Game on!Comment

Yes, 95 is the most authentic setting. A former dev confirmed this. We have plenty of people here that have tested this as well. I've been using a value between 75-95 since NCAA 14. I use 95 right now and it's great.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I guess it doesn't work that way just like some people's whacked out sliders work great.
So 95 still allows fast players to outrun coverages sometimes?
In Madden 21 (PS5) I felt like I could also pop Nick Chubb through a hole in the line, get through the second level and outrun out-of-position dbs and safeties down the sidelines. He can do this in real life. Lately, even with the speed at 50, he is getting caught almost all of the time and that's why I like to adjust the speed parity. But I am always looking for more realism which is why I ask this in the first place. Thanks.Comment

I keep it around 50, since that's what the devs play/test on otheriwse it wouldnt be on 50. Seems like the easiest way to tune other aspects of the game that's needed. I wouldn't say 95 is the most accurate and makes the game play in overhyper speed imo.Last edited by Darth Aegis; 10-18-2022, 08:43 PM.OS needs a Thumbs DOWN button

95 has been confirmed as the most authentic setting , the reason given for not setting this as default was , I believe , that people have unrealistic perceptions of the difference in speed between NFL players , which seems true considering many of the comments here let alone amongst the general ( non OS) user base.Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon .... Anyone see anything different with the kicking arch in the wind?
First game i played after the patch was sunday night, and i hadn’t seen it until tonight.
Was on the road at the bills with 8 mph wind and the arch was swaying back and forth on punts, and field goals."Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory."Comment

Re: Madden NFL 23 Patch #3 Available – Patch Notes
So do you still see fast guys pull away from average guys? Cause even at 50 I am seeing average linebackers outrun "fast" running backs to the edge continually. When I set the speed parity to something like 10 for testing, I at least can see speed backs getting around the edge and actually pulling away from slower guys. I admit....it can be too much at times, but at the default 50 I feel like everyones speeds are so close as to be hard to differentiate the elite from the average. I cannot imagine 95. I'm sure this is not the case but it seems like it would make everyone the same!

They still can’t cover them on double moves, because they don’t have the same quickness, but on deep overs I have seen all three run step for step with fast WRs.Originally posted by Therebelyell626I am going to create a team called "the happy town fundament rapscallions" and hurt your already diminishing image

What does AUTHENTIC mean in their Football games?
They've had game speed sliders and player speed threshold sliders over the years.
They use old code on top of old code so who knows exactly what the threshold slider setting should be for authentic gameplay regardless of what EA says.
Some people use 0, 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100.
I've always said go by your own eye test and what feels right to you because at the end of day it's still just a game and I don't think they (EA) can capture true NFL player speed in Madden because there are so many other things they haven't captured right in the game.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Re: Madden NFL 23 Patch #3 Available – Patch Notes
A 99 speed WR with 99 acceleration should be able to burn a CB with anything less than a 95 speed, bearing in mind they have decent catch and catch in traffic and release. Increase the defensive coverage and reaction slider to compensate for the 0 speed slider.Last edited by Charizard; 10-19-2022, 10:01 AM.Comment
