Noticed that the illegal man downfield slider is automatically switched to off once you go into the game. It is on at the MM. With it set to off (default) in game I had this penalty called several times and not when I moved it to the on position. This may be a bug showing that it is off in game.

Also noticed that you can only move penalty sliders in increments of 5 in game.

I wondered if that were the case about the functionality of the actual penalty (i.e. display bug showing it off when it was on). Thanks for checking that out.

At this juncture though, I'm still standing by the recommendation of the OP based on what I saw last night. It's really a penalty that one shouldn't see anyways unless they don't know how to properly run an RPO.

I'll see if anything changes if/when we get an opening day patch.

I’m excited to try the illegal man down field slider set to on. Reading some great things. If I could get a pass rush this would quite honestly be the best madden I’ve played in a few years from a gameplay perspective

I generally go for sliders that try to get the most realistic stats league wide.

BUT I really really really really really really really really (I'm not done, but you get the idea) like the logic behind your thinking on how some of those adjustment would effect gameplay. As well as your stated logic behind each change you have individually. You seem to have really thought this through.

So I do believe I am going to go with your sliders to start with this year. Plus any changes from the current norm in season stats for various positions etc. can be chalked up to the normal kinds of fluctuations you see in stats in the NFL due to play calling trends, rule changes etc.

Edit: added clarity to that line in the op.

It should have said 50 in cfm right? My injury slider is at 50 default in cfm. Xbox one X

Long time lurker here. I really haven't played much the last few years, but the gameplay shows a lot of promise this year, so i'll definitely join in and provide feedback. I like your approach and dedication as always Josh. Keep up the good work

Well I appreciate that you took the time to read through the OP - I definitely spend a LOT of time behind the scenes 'stressing' the game and seeing what does/does not work well.

And for the stat piece you wrote at the end, yeah, that's definitely my thought process. The more sample size, the more the stats begin to normalize. Without game-to-game outliers, we lose that 'variety'...but provided that we have a good 'balance' - they will begin to come in-line over time.

              Enjoy!!!

If you start a new CFM, the injury slider is set to 40....so, if you never touch a thing, that is what you'd run with (so I consider that its 'default'). If you hit reset in the CFM slider menu, it will then go to 50.

Josh, I am a huge proponent of slow clock because acc clock makes the game play like an arcade. Is 10 min the sweet spot this season for slow clock because I know that 9 min was the sweet spot last year. I also play cpu vs. cpu and does that effect anything?

Since I know how much of a gameplay mechanics guy you are Josh, I wanted to show you an interesting little tidbit I found in the description of a MUT challenge (and there's no way this applies to just MUT, it's a core gameplay mechanic):

So, pressure is a radius around an unblocked player unless that player is an In-The-Zone Fearmonger, in which case he can be blocked and still apply pressure. I honestly always thought it was simply a straight line - that is, if a rushing defender had an unblocked line toward the QB that he would apply it. But proximity to the QB is apparently very relevant as well.

I mentioned it because now that we can see exactly when pressure is being applied (and when it's not resisted by the QB's "Throw Under Pressure" rating), I'm starting to see how much the QB's accuracy can be affected by it. Even elites like Brady can make inaccurate throws when they're pressured and don't resist it. "Pressure - Accurate" happens more than I'd like at default QB accuracy, but I'm still surprised at how much inaccuracy pressure can create, and how that can bring down completion percentages if a defense is getting consistent pressure on the QB.

If you want to see and test the effect of pressure for yourself, go into practice mode with X-Factors on, and choose a defense that has one of the aforementioned Fearmongers - personally I find the Eagles' Fletcher Cox to be a good choice because he's a DT and you only need to take a step or so upfield to be in his radius. Let them sack you twice to activate it, and then from there on just try throwing passes while stepping up in the pocket toward them - that way either their ability will trigger and cause pressure, or they'll shed their block and be right in your grill anyway. Not every "inaccurate" pass will miss the WR because the WR can adjust to a poor throw sometimes - that's why the feedback on the pass itself is so important.

                      Just a quick shoutout, Josh.

I have implemented your sliders (except I'm running 15min w/ 12 sec runoff) alongside turning on IMD penalty and have just played 3 very consistently high quality games.

Excited to see how this develops.

I switched to 10 minutes last year and it works well. Regarding cpu v cpu, please refer to the op.

I like the way it plays 15-12

Really about the same amount of time to play

Josh, why did you steer away from the 51 penalty setting?

First time I will complain about the speed to the line and that’s a good thing

CPU kicking my butt, but no time to adjust

Because of the speed of how quickly the computer gets to the line I pretty much have to be whoever the defender os on that given play. For years I thought it was cheating to hot route and use coverage, but I just got picked apart by Corey Davis and had to highlight him. I got blown out and it was a good thing.
