    The 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers.

Im not denying the Steelers were a great team last year. For that matter they were great when they won vs Seattle a few years ago. All I'm am saying is I think they were great the same way the 85 bears and the 2000 Ravens were. There are a dozen teams quarterbacks I think outperformed Big Ben.

See, this is what I was on about earlier.

You subscribe to this myth that being a great system QB with huge stats makes you a great overall player. I disagree. Manning and Brady have time and time again PROVEN themselves to be physically incabable of making plays when the system breaks down. They curl up and take a sack or throw the ball away.

Roethlisberger makes plays when Manning or Brady would be sacked or give up on the play. That counts for something.

There is a game that is played between the hash marks that cannot be measured in statistics.

Roethlisberger has a career passer rating of 89.4 (9th all time). He has a career completion % of 62.4 (14th all time), has thrown 101 TDs to 69 INTs and is 7th all time in yards/attempt. He is 51-20 as a starter in the regular season and is 8-2 with an 87.2 rating in the playoffs. He is 22-4 against teams in his division in the regular season (24-4 total). He has set many Steelers single game and single season records, and also holds nearly all of the efficiency records (rating, comp %, ypam etc) and is 2nd only to Terry Bradshaw in most other areas (wins, TDs, yards, etc).

Everybody has their opinions, but comparing Roethlisberger to Trent Dilfer or Kerry Collins or any other game manager is ridiculous. And the 85 Bears had Jim McMahon, who was a pretty good QB and could have been really good if he hadn't got injured in 86.

Like I said, you can't measure a player by statistics alone.

Very well said. This is impossible to explain to most people. It's like when I talked to a guy after the Super Bowl this year who hates the Steelers and the first thing he said was 'Roethlisberger got showed up by Warner.' Statistically... sure. But that's not all that matters.

I cant say much one way or the other because I dont watch him play but he truely is a beast statistically speaking.

If all these player's everyone has been hyping up so much make the HoF they better start a very large addition now to make room.

Outside that I, as a Bears fan, will agree the Pack fan and continue to believe Big Cry Baby Ben won't remember as one of the best all time unless his Super Bowl ring's thanks to a great team get him there.

I used to to really like the guy. But then after his first major injury and watching the way he handled him self I just can't take the guy seriously. I mean for the size of the guy he sure cries a lot. Every time he got hit he would start complaining to anyone who would listen.

I bet if he was a boxer the first time he got hit hard he would hide behind the ref and start crying asking for protection.

As much as it pains me to give a Steeler some props(go Titans!), Big Ben can be my QB any day. He is the true definition of a scrambling elusive QB: he buys time to PASS,he moves around to PASS....

Mike Vick, Vince Young, take notes.

Madden should be based of the players we see today. 99= best at position and bet in the NFL. It can be a couple of players at the same position.

Portis has shown no breakaway speed since gaining weight.
You answer to that is simple. It isn't a one season game and NEW players are going to come into the game. If these are the best players then there is not a possibility of anyone entering the league that is better.

I really really don't want a couple of 99 at every position. I don't want that many over 90 or we are back to all the past versions of Madden were ratings do not matter much.

The entire point of EA changing the ratings was to make it so there IS a difference between the elite players and the good ones. Because in past maddens there really was not. You could take a bunch of players rated in the 80's and win the super bowl year in and year out.

It wasn't realistic and needed to change. So, hopefully EA sticks to their guns and has the players ratings with a wide spread. If EA backs down over everyone's crying about ratings then the game will just suffer and we will have another year where basically all starters are rated of 90.

I am a Bears fan and have I asked for one bear's players to be rated higher? I am just trying to be unbiased and call it as I see it, no matter which team it helps.

whether you disagree with Tom Brady's deep ball accuracy or you think T.O is overrated, the bottom line is ELITE players should be a cut above.I want to see a Madden where there is no way Asomugha is beat in man coverage, where Haynesworth needs to be doubled, where Peyton Manning picks your D apart, where Adrian Peterson is ALL DAY,where you need to know where Harrison is lining up at,where Chris Johnson's speed is noticed....these ratings have meant nothing when Matt Schaub shreds you worse than Manning does. Bottom line is I hope this is the year you see the difference between the 99's and the 70's rated player.

Just be happy he got 94 speed and move on, if we are giving bonus points for being a good player, Jason Witten needs some to. Funny thing is Jason Witten actually has 4.6 timed speed at the combine and gets 75 speed for it. I know he is not the niftiest runner with the ball in his hands, but he sure as heck has blown away lots of safeties down the seam. I doubt 75 speed could beat a LB down the seam in Madden 10.

                                78/80 should be his speed

Also Heath Miller should be 72/74 Zach Miller 75-77 Antonio Gates 81-83 I don't get the 85 rating, heck if we are basing this on recent performance his bum ankle probably deserves 78-80 speed.
