Secondly, the rest of the stuff, editing players and coach tendencies, etc....has been in football games for years. It will be nice to edit logos and things but I was completely expecting that stuff anyway, even though I personally don't care about the no NFL license

Nothing is "wow" yet. I want gameplay vids and impressions. As good as 2k5 was, it had serious gameplay issues, especially with running up the middle and the secondary was almost impossible to control. As pumped as I am and as much confidence I have in the 2k5 developers....I need to see these things fixed. Overall gameplay just has to be smoother.
I understand where you're coming from. I think the lack of info before today made alot of people a little paranoid about what we will be able to do. I feel ya though...I'm just hyped that 2K is back & is giving us almost eveything they can without a license. Now lets see those vids of gameplay...

The 2K series has never been overrated or overhyped. If anything, it's been the complete opposite.

EA and Madden are both overrated and overhyped year after year and quite honestly, they havent lived up to their hype since the mid to late 90's.

The reason why so many 2K fans here are happy is simple - it's because after three years, they will finally be able to go to the store and actually have an alternative football game to crappy Madden and NCAA.

I'm personally not into next gen as I dont want to spend the money required for an HDTV, the system, etc. but I must admit that APF 2K8 has me very tempted to do so. The main thing that I care about is gameplay. If 2K8 plays as good or better then 2K5, I'll be a happy camper. Everything else is just a bonus.

The main negative is that there is no franchise mode but when you think about it, it makes sense because what is VC going to do? Copy the NFL's off-season? Or even worse, have some lame *** story like in Blitz: League? No thanks to both.

Back to EA / Madden for a minute. 2K8 does have EA, Tirubon and Madden all crapping their pants in fear. I'm sure that EA is having a three year flashback. After all, there's a reason why EA purchased the NFL, NCAA and AFL licenses years ago. It was because they feared VC developing another superior football game compared to their old, outdated, past it's prime and obsolete piece of crap called Madden.

APF 2K8 > Madden next gen easily

Doubtful. Madden will still get their normal sales, and the odds of this taking sales away from Madden are slim to none. EA only cares about the bottomline, and this won't affect theirs.

I can honestly say, I am anticipating this game more than the Madden or NCAA. Which considering the lack of licensing says something.

Last night I went to bed, thinking about how I would want to build my team, and with what Legends I would accomplish that with.

              Yes I need help.

I can't wait to get into an online league with some OSers, we know 2K won't disappoint with that.

A live draft will be freakin awesome in this game.

July can't get here fast enough. I can't wait till tomorrow night to see this bad boy in motion.

                    That would be amazing.

I gotta be honest though, I really am looking forward to using Earl Campbell.

I already answered this once but I`ll say it again.Your right it won't effect madden sales this year. But it may for the next couple of years once everyone sees what we already know.THAT MADDEN ISN"T NEXT GEN.I believe the nfl will not be so quick to hand ea the license next time around. This game will impact ea if it is what I think it is.Of course we haven't seen it in motion yet but 2k has always exceeded our expectations.

Earl Campbell = "BEAST" in this game... Gotta love good Earl. Very Nice choice

I agree about anticipating it more than other games. As much as I love the NFL, I like the idea of making a team that's my own and competing against the teams others have built. If 2K copied this exact same concept and gave us All-Pro Baseball 2K8, I'd be far more excited for it than for MLB 2K8 as well.

The NFL is not hinging its future on the license tied to a videogame. This isn't like cleats or uniforms or even gatorade. They care that they are getting a very large amount of money and that EA isn't doing anything that would discredit their product... making an average next gen game isn't enough to say they are discrediting their product.
