Will this game EVER really get a fair shake

This game is no where near perfect. I guess you could say that I with Dave Z 100% - it's not perfect, but I'm VERY VERY pleased with the game. (that guy knows his stuff) IMO, the game has progress so much so quickly, that it should be pretty tough for people to feel it doesn't deserves a fair shot. But, because I'm also a Madden fan, I'm on MaddenMania. I swear, there are some really STUPID people over there. There are alot of intelligent guys there, but my god, the signal-to-noise ratio is VERY small. And the mods are absolutely terrible (you OS boys rock). The reason I bring this up is because I figure that place represents a good portion of the Madden fanbase. And the Madden fanbase, based on the numbers, represents a LARGE majority of the football video game audience. And it's not like we haven't met people on the street like these people.

What's my point? Well, I'm starting to think that while I don't think Sega's marketing is in the same league as EA's, marketing is looking like a smaller factor as to why the sales gap isn't closing. There is so much bad information going around. I, against my better judgement, went to SE last night to see if the XBox version was in (I just have the PS2 version). The salesman tells me, tomorrow for all platforms. I say PS2 and XBox, cool. He's says, "Yeah, PS2, XBox, and GAMECUBE." Gamecube?!?! Sheep!

This is by far, one of the best versions of the 2k series to data. It will be interesting to see how the sales go consider all of this.

I'm going to get my 2cents in later...but basically I think Sega is honestly trying their butt off to get the best gameplay. I thinked they worked on FP mode a lot last year and listened to us to get those gameplay bugs fixed. FP mode if very underrated and after you play honestly about 10 games... you get the hang of it and it becomes very addicting and realistic.

What I'm trying to say is ESPN has the best gameplay and presentation out there. They can go back and fix the franchise bugs that they have here and there. Like simmed stats, and more franchise options that madden has. Stuff like this can be fixed next year but the main thing we all care about is gameplay. The gameplay and presentation is so good that we overlook and other little stupid bugs in the game. That's why down the road this will be the best selling football game.

But how? The gameplay and presentation can only work for people that are actually playing the game. I don't think the Madden audience is even TRYING to play the game. See what I'm saying?

That's a huge part of the problem. Quotes from my rare stop on MM yesterday?

                "They never throw deep".
                "The CPU QB's never run".
                "The passes are floaty".
                "I can't ever get a sack".
"I get too many dropped passes".

I honestly wondered if half of the guys complaining actually even tried it, or rehashed the same arguments from last year. Then, somebody finally started pointing out the statistical problems, and whoaaaa it was on at that point.

I really could care less. As long as VC keeps making them, I am happy I don't have to sift through the cretins to play a decent online game. Well...more cretins.

I dont understand how anyone can even compare Madden to 2K4. Madden isnt even in Sega's league when it comes to this year's football game. Stack the two games against each other and ESPN football 2K4 blows Madden 2004 out of the water.
