Yep. Starting with a video of a ballcarrier capture today, I'm going to be showing a few other player captures in the future (as time permits), between now and the completion of the playable Game Prototype. Each capture will have its own thread to discuss it.

As for pictures, there will be one thread made solely for pictures. Each time a new photo is posted it will be edited into the original thread post.

The progress of the playable Game Prototype

Currently, the playable GP stands at roughly 40% complete. To my knowledge, Only 2 independent user-controlled (not coach mode only or text-based) football games have publicly made it this far since 1999, so this is indeed an important and rare step towards the ultimate goal.

I'm more than confident that the current stage will be reaching 100% very, very soon and I'll be right back here announcing the kickoff of the public playable Game Demo stage (which is where you'll be able to play the game upon completion!).

What I'm working on right now

-Finishing up writing on the commentary script.

-Finishing up the playcall screen operations.

-Editing captures to be used in the final build of the playable Game Prototype.

      Feedback

Your feedback is very important. Constructive feedback is of course most helpful. Every post and every poll vote you place will have an impact on this project. If you like something, if you don't like something, or if you want to post an idea in relation to something I've posted, I need to hear all of it and all of it will be equally appreciated and taken seriously.

Good stuff. How are the defensive playbooks going to work? Are you thinking about the old style 2k used to have where you pick your defensive fronts, LB assignments, and then secondary assignments? If not are you going to have a create a play or something like it?

          Keep up the good work.

That hasn't been finalized yet, probably not for awhile. I wanna make sure the general captures all blend well enough to get to the next stage at the moment. However, I would like to have something that allows you to make playbook adjustments in-game.

I really appreciate the comments. It certainly hasn't been easy and there is a lot more work to go before this can be a commercial product, but the possibility is looking better with each build. The budget is going well too, so I don't foresee that as an issue, and I've just added support to write some plug-ins that I'd never have time to do myself and still get a playable GP done this year.

Any feedback you can lend pos or neg is very valuable right now, so please don't hesitate.

There will be a new thread tomorrow on running styles, among other things. LaDainian Tomlinson will be part of it.

Ok it took me awhile but I've finally read through this thread. I'm curious about something... what is your commentary plan? I read that you were writing a script. Do you plan on a 2 man team (play by play and color analyst)? And also, who would you be considering? I have no idea how much it would cost to hire big name commentators.

This is a very intriguing game. I also wonder about real rosters/fake names, etc... but didn't want to ask too many questions at once.

Feel free to ask away, it's no problem. I'll always answer what I can

About the commentary, it's written for a 2-Man team. The final draft should be ready next month. Since it's a prototype I'm going with voice acting. I think either approach can work be it a real life personality or a voice actor. I feel the most important thing is to get whoever you have to sound like they're actually into the game.

With the rosters, technically you could say they are real since the people in the game are real (not polygons). However, as far as having pro players from other pro leagues, that's something to consider in the future...

I think voice actors can be better than real announcers (cf. 2k5 / 2k8). If the script is well written (as 2K's were) then it works brilliantly.

There was a cool pic comparing strides to real players, is this with the idea that users can edit the player to match his NFL counterpart? Also, are u hoping to implement online file sharing (assuming there is editing abilities)?

Ever since I started reading this thread it's been all I can think about lol.
