Because it collapses in the playoffs. It was huge with the dome teams, and once it hit bad weather + better defenses it stalled and lost games. But there were weeks when it would tear up inferior defenses on the carpet and rack up insanse amounts of yardage.

In Moon's case he had Jack Pardee to thank for the best years of his life. Chuck and duck and Buddy Ryan called it.

Think Indianapolis COlts, but even more passing. And I think you've seen how well they've done during the playoffs.

Oh and I WAS a huge Oilers fan. Seriously, they were always one of my favorite teams, even before Moon and Co. But for some reason when they moved to Tennessee that stopped.

Any offense under Jerry Glanville would collapse in the playoffs!!

That Oiler run and shoot team was one of my favorite teams to watch.

But they need to always remember, they brought the house, we brought the pain!

So it sounds to me like you don't think Peyton Manning will be a HOFer either if his career continues as it has up to now?

I admit I came on too strong defending the CFL there but the fact of the matter was the league was much closer in talent level in the late '70s/early '80s to the NFL then it is now.

I think those Eskimos teams could've beaten most NFL teams of the same period.

I'm sure he will, he should if Moon is. I just hope they put Vinnie into the HOF too IF all that matters is top 10 all time passing numbers.

The talent level was closer in the 70's than it is now. Expansion in the NFL, has taken players who would be considered the most borderline of players. Still it was never that close relatively speaking.

I think you would have probably been surprised at what would have happened to the Eskimoes had they played an NFL team.

Well I dunno the Esks were pretty dominant in those days. I don't think they would've beaten the Steelers, Rams, Cowboys and maybe Vikings of the time period but I think they would've held their own with the others.

A game between the Air Coryell Chargers and the Edmonton Eskimos would've been a real barn burner and probably end with both teams in the 50s!

They were dominant vs. the CFL. Big dropoff between the rest of the CFL and the NFL.

The last time a CFL team played an NFL team, the CFL team won. The Ti-Cats beat the Bills 38-21 in 1961.

I would like to see the Grey Cup champions play the SB champions with one half using CFL rules and another half using NFL rules. Of course this will never happen though.

In 1961 Buffalo was an AFL team, in it's second year of existence. Hardly an NFL team. Let's not manipulate facts to try to prove a point. BTW Buffalo went 6-8 in the fledgling AFL that year.

In '61 two CFL teams played two NFL teams, with the CFL teams losing by pretty good margins.

If a CFL team was to play an NFL team now? It would be ugly, and somebody would probably get hurt.

Actually in looking at that list a CFL team has never beaten an NFL team.

Well I sent an e-mail to Eric Tillman who's RSN's CFL/NFL insider. If I get a response he'll probably agree with BK but it's always nice to get an answer from someone more knowledgable then the both of us.

The only game that could be halfway decent would be to put the CFL champs against the NFL worst. Even then, the worst team in the NFL would have a big advantage. Using CFL rules might make it more interesting.

Every once in awhile you get a Moon, Garcia or Flutie to come over and have success but its rare at any other position. Wasn't Mike Pringle (RB) the MVP and went to the Broncos only to get cut on the drop to 60 in training camp a couple years ago? Ricky Ray did nothing with the Jets (I thought it was a bad choice of teams) and Henry Burris did nothing either. Both guys are great in the CFL although I rarely watch CFL games.

The best CFL player is willing to make the jump just to have a chance at the minimum salary the NFL pays. Let there be no question that the talent is vastly superior in the NFL. The bottom 5 guys on an NFL roster might be comparable to the top 5 guys on a CFL roster but that's about it.
