Re: Kurt Warner, Hall of Fame?

Would anyone watch a movie that memorialized his life?

NFL quarterback Kurt Warner married a woman with two children, one a paraplegic.

All the heartbreak Kurt endured trying to get into the NFL, and the many setbacks he had to weather along the way. So many of our gridiron heroes go in as highly touted draft picks it's sometimes hard to realize some take a tortuous path to the pigskin paradise of the NFL. Kurt presented as a free agent to the Green Bay Packers in 1994, was signed, then cut by them that same year. In 1997 he had a tryout scheduled with the Chicago Bears which fell through when an injury sustained during his honeymoon rendered him hors de combat. (A venomous spider had bitten him on his throwing elbow.) He had to muck about in the Arena and European leagues before finally being taken on by the Rams in 1997 as their third-string quarterback. In 1999 he stepped in during the preseason in place of injured Trent Green and began almost immediately to rewrite Rams' history.
What do you think? If Snopes is correct, that'd be a movie I'd LOVE to see.

Warner has had a more efficient career than Brett Favre. Both are first ballot HOFers

Warner is a HOFer. 3 of the best performances in the SB, great career stats, and just a quality guy that doesn't give up even when the situation was horrible. I'll take him over Brett Farve any day..

Really? I think some of us might have forgotten how good Brett Favre used to be.

Key words being 'used to be'.

There was a 3 or 4 year stretch in the mid 90's when Favre played outstanding but it pretty much went downhill after Holmgren left the Packers. After that Favre was given the benefit of the doubt because of his 'gunslinger' reputation. He threw too many interceptions in critical situations that just killed his team. One that comes to mind is a 5 int performance against the Rams in the playoffs.

Of 1 time superbowl winners I'd take Warner, Manning and Young over Favre any day.

Yea good points, but personally I'd rather have Favre than Warner. Just my opinion.

And wait...Young won 1 Super Bowl? I thought he had like 2 or 3 lol.

He has three rings but only won one as a starter. He got the other two being Montana's backup.

The guy has got to be in the Hall. He has led his team to three Super Bowls, he always makes his recievers better(well except for maybe the Giants) but he is just a great QB. Arizona should have won that game and when it mattered most, he came through.(the fumble at the end was an incomplete pass, garbage call at that stage of the game)Anything you look for in a HOF QB, he has it.

How does he make his receivers better?

And sure he has everything that you look for in a HOF QB, but he also has everything that you don't look for in a HOF QB.

But regardless of his bad years, I still think he'll get in but he's not a first ballot Hall of Famer.

To compare the careers or Bret and Kurt and put them on the same level is laughable. I mean all Bret has is 10 pro bowls, 7 time first team all pro, first player ever to win three MVP's, longets starting streak in NFL history, ALL TIME LEADER in TD's, yards, completetions, WINS, most games with 3 TD passes, most season with 30 TD's, 2nd all time in 4th quarter comeback wins, and ranks 2nd ALL TIME in the PLAYOFFS behind Montana in Yards, TD's, and completetions.

All Warner has is AT BEST FIVE GOOD seasons but only 3 of those where pro bowl years and two all pro. Oh yeah there careers are real similar
Well maybe you cant read that well or you just seen Farve ***** and then stoped. I said, "Saying he has the right to the HoF as much as Farve, YES."

Az Hakim, Steve Breaston and to certain degree Issac Bruce and Anquan Boldin. They all have learned how to be better recievers under Warner. Fitz and Torry Holt are going to be great no matter who is throwing to them but even those guys have said Warner helped them get better. Not to mention that he holds the top 3 spots on the SB passing yardage record book. It doesn't get much more clutch than that. Now you may say, "well he had passing teams." You know why he had passing teams? Because the coaches were smart enough to realize they had Kurt Warner as thier QB and he could get it done.

I don't see how he made his receivers better. Fitz and Boldin were already good before he got there, and Bruce and Holt were still good without him. Not to mention, he did nothing in New York when he didn't have those receivers.

I wouldn't say he made Bruce or Boldin better. Bruce was already a Pro Bowl reciever before Warner got there and was a pro bowl reciever after. Boldin came into the league breaking records as a rookie. He was putting up 100 plus reception 1300 plus yard seasons before Warner stepped foot in Arizona.

As far as he "passing teams" go. He played for Mike Martz in St. Louis. Mike Martz would throw the ball 50 times a game with ME and YOU as the QB's. Thats why he doesn't have a job now. He doesn't run the ball at all no matter who the RB is.

They didn't know Warner could get it done in St. Louis. He was the backup. Trent Green was the starter and got hurt in the pre season. Then Warner came out of nowhere and that what makes his story so great and is how it got started. If Green would have never got hurt we might not even know who Warner is.

And that is what the whole post was in reference to. That very statement right there. The Hall of Fame is based off of your career. As far as careers go their careers are not equal. Farve is a no doubt first ballot Hall of Famer. Kurt is not. It is just that simple.
