Well it has worked a few times. The National Enquirer got some real bad pub in the '80s when a couple big stars took them to court. IIRC though, both cases were settled out of court.

Aikman is racist because he only yelled at black players maybe most of the players on offense was black. Sad.

When Irvin was going to court the only Cowboys player to attend was Aiman. When Irvin lost his endorsements one of the first he picked up was because of Aikman recommendation.

I don't know about the N word but I remember when I first heard about the racist rumor. Late in the game Dallas was down and the other team was in prevent and rushed three. Aikman was sacked and it ended the game amd Aikman yelled at his o line and that was the first time I heard about Aikman being racist,

I think Barry called Aikman a slur not so much about his sexuality but his "manhood'/toughness. Barry and Aikman had a relationship because Aikman played for OU before transfering over to UCLA.

When that happens it is because the magazine settles for what it would cost (or less usually) to litigate the case.

Skip Bayless never said Troy Aikman was gay. He only said teammates, fans & Switzer questioned if he was. When are people going to get that point?

lol yea "sources". You cant start a rumor without making some "sources"...although none of the "sources" have ever "came out". It was a rumor STARTED by Bayless to sell a book. JohnDough, i was talking about suckers earlier...

Skip is only retelling the events that led to his 3rd book. That is all. He never said Troy was gay. Never accussed or insinuated he was gay. Bayless is only telling what was involved in Switzer & Aikman's feud.

I used to work with Bayless at a local paper here in DFW. He actually is gay, so the thought was always that this was wishful thinking from him and the gay community.

Beyond that, I'd rather not get into this, so let that be as is.

What background do I need? He never called Aikman gay, period. End of discussion. He was asked the background of each of his 3 books & he gave it.

People are zeroing in on the wrong thing. If people want to discredit what Bayless has to say on the subject, they need to prove 1) people weren't calling in to his radio show to question his sexuality. 2) that Switzer didn't ask Bayless about it. 3) that there weren't players on the team that questioned whether Aikman was gay.

Far be it for me to act like Bayless has any common sense, but what good would it do the gay community to wish the guy would be outed and to accuse him of hurling a racial slur in the same book?
