    Re: Michael Vick Discussion Thread

I would love to see him go some where as a starter although that is doubtful, but the 49ers seem like a decent fit for him.

      It'll be tough for him.

Vick is a public relations nightmare for any team. Can you imagine the throng media surrounding him in camp, and in every city his team goes to? What a distraction that will be.

        Re: Michael Vick Discussion Thread

I honestly think that Vick isn't going to have much to show whichever team gets him, at least not from a passing standpoint. So much of being a good QB is decision making, and he wasn't great at that by any stretch before losing two years.

He might work out in a Wildcat/Slash type gimmick role. It depends on how much of his speed in pads is still left, and if he can avoid fumbling problems like he had.

Ultimately, I don't see him doing much the rest of his NFL career.

The source of most of TO's problems.

But I'm glad he had the guts to stand up & say something. Its just too bad the NFLPA has none. Owens is 100% correct.

Unfortunately, T.O. is right. Goodell is making himself out to be the Plantation Owner that several on this board have accused him of being.

It's overkill. He's publicly punishing Vick to show that he is all-powerful. He knows that most players are too attached to their paychecks to do the right thing and oppose him in the media.

Agreed here. Vick served his time before he was sent to prison. I don't see what missing 4 games will do for the guy's character after he spent 20 months in prison.

Of course it may be moot, the conditional re-instatement does not seem to include a suspension...

Well if nothing is decided before week 6 then I'd say you can pretty much consider it worse than a suspension... same effect with the added stress of the unknown.

I'd like to go back and visit the timeline of events when he first got into trouble. I know the Falcons acted quickly with some kind of "suspension" but for some reason I think the NFL stepped in also. Granted, he was locked up shortly after, but I didn't think about it until someone mentioned it on the radio not too long ago... he may have had some kind of punishment already too.

The man has been kicked, stomped and railroaded. I don't approve of, or condone dog fighting. BUT IT'S MORE SPORTING THAN SHOOTING AT DEER WITH A RIFLE FOR FUN. I don't see PETA kicking down Brett Favre's door for blasting them to oblivion just for kicks.

Vick has more than paid the price, people need to just move on.

Just an FYI, Vick is NOT suspended the first 6 weeks. Goodell said that is the LATEST he could make a decision on it so for all we know, Vick might not have to sit out any games.

Rumor around Bills camp is that they might give Vick a chance. I'm gonna be going to the night practice tomorrow night.

If Vick( and vince young) would just be themselves they would be the most lethal weapons you could have on the football field. but they listen to the media when they says "you cant throw effectively and you need become a better dropback qb" F that!!! you dont hear ppl telling manning or brady they need to become better scramblers!!! thats like telling Shaq he needs to develop a better mid-range jumper!!! WTF. thats not his game and MV and VY's arent on top of their game when they "ACT" like pocket passers!!! they got to the NFL because of their ability to make plays with their legs and the fact they CAN throw, but to be most effective they HAVE to run, last year VY had 8 carries in 3 games b4 he got benched. if VY aks "why did i get benched" look no further!!!!

I'm with you. I still think Vick can be a quality starting QB. He's not the traditional type and people will say "Oh well he's not accurate enough. He doesn't make good enough decisions." He played pretty well back when he was still a starter in Atlanta. Just cause they aren't the traditional QB doesn't mean they can't be effective.
