And I'm not suggesting it's different anywhere else but folks here I think, feel it's kind of their team as well being publicly owned. It's like any Packer great that has graced Lambeau Field is part of a bigger family encompassing them and the fans.

A team scrimmage sells out 90% of Lambeau every summer.

I just think (myself included) with all that has transpired over the past 5-6 years with all the retirement talk EVERY offseason that we feel somewhat jilted that a favorite son has kind of dissed us.I'm really talking of stuff that he has said in local media and such that never played out on the national scene.

Didn't mean for this too get as long as it did, it's just different here in Wisconsin, hard to explain I guess but I think that's why there is so much outrage, response, anger to this whole ordeal.
This I get and understand. You are jilted. I respect that. You should want him to get his brains beat in when he comes back. I'm a Bear fan I got NO love for him.

But everyone's mad cuz he's an attention whore. But we got guys legally changing their name, twittering BS everyday, calling people out to box etc. SCREAMING "Look at me". But we're cool with that.

We got muderers, drug dealers, dog torturers that come back. We're cool with that. We're all about people getting second (and third) chances and having a right to work.

Favre? We're mad cuz ESPN and Madden leg hump him? Big deal?

I think Packer fans have a legit beef. Although your management had a hand in that situation too. It's a two way street.

Bottom line, if he gets his skull beat in, enjoy it. But really the hate is disproportionate.

He retired for a month to sign with a team everyone knew he was going to sign with.

There's no chance he wasn't doing this to attention whore

I think you're overestimating how many people are "mad". It's funny that word gets thrown around so much. It's a NFL message board during the preseason, and much like NFL Live and the entire NFLN, there isn't much to talk about right now. Having an opinion and being mad aren't the same thing. For anyone who really is mad about any of this (besides fans of the Pack, Jets, Vikings or Favre himself) I completely agree with you. But most of us are just talking.

With that said, did you miss the threads about Vick and Stallworth? There's even a pretty long one about Ochocinco's twitter habits, and have been a ton about TO. I wouldn't even call posting in more than one thread multi-tasking. What you're saying is that we shouldn't discuss this and discuss everything else too? Because all the examples you presented have definitely been talked about to death.

It takes two to tango. This decision has a lot to do with money and media coverage, not just for Favre but the Vikings and the league. I am and always will be a Favre fan because he is one hell of a competitor. IF he was washed up he wouldn't have been wanted by the Jets, Vikings and Bucs last year. The guy can still play and get the job done. This was a business decision and him and the team knew this would happen it was their way of keeping him out of training camp.

On a side note I think Favre appeals more to the mid to late 30 something plus guys. We grew up watching this guy make some great plays so we are more attached to him. The younger generation just sees some gray hair QB that they think he is out for himself. Good luck to Brett, he made the Vikings that much more of a force to be reckoned with.

This is one mid to late 30 something who's not attached to Favre at all. I see Favre, the active NFL player, as a QB with great experience especially in big games, but with less talent left than he thinks he has and an inability to adjust his style of play to the situation. Much like McNair, I also see his name being bigger than him, making it hard for coaches to discipline when necessary, and virtually impossible to sit. Coaches and teams see raw talent and avoid the mental and team aspect of things too much. We've seen that cause problems many times before, including with this guy. They wouldn't want him if he didn't have the talent, but it's anybody's guess (including Favre's probably) if he'll really wrap his head around being a member of the Vikings and being a good teammate on (playing within the gameplan which is AP 1st and 2nd for most of the game) and off (being a leader in the locker room and not requesting special treatment) the field.

Anyone know if the drool from John Madden's chin has been cleaned up yet? Not to mention the various stains in his shorts after he learned his boy was back.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

I can't think of anyone who would deliberately avoid training camp to create a dramatic entrance. Who would let his teammates sweat out the entire spring & most of summer in order to put the spotlight on himself?

Shaq is the only person who comes to mind, but he doesn't even come close to this.

Honestly, no BS, I'm sorry he said that to y'all. That was pretty f'ed up. It just seems so arrogant. I mean, I don't have a lot of love for him to begin with, but dang, that's underhanded.

At least with Ali it was done with the purpose of hyping up his fights and bringing entertainment value to a sport that was still centered around smoky convention halls and dominated by the mob. The sport never really shook off the mob connections til the end of Ali's career but he brought a brashness and more energetic flavor to a sport that was watched by the over 50 crowd.

So his "attention whoring" was at least done with a good purpose, the others? Not so much.

I seriously dislike Favre after doing this again. If I were a teammate of his in NY, I would be blasting him to the media. You got a guy who fake retires once and goes to a team to just try and get a quick SB win at the end of his career. He makes that team into a loser (with the help of Manginidiot), so he fake retires again to get out of that situation, and then walk right into another already built team to try and get a quick and easy SB win. It's really quite lame. I would loathe him if I were on the roster of the Packers, Jets, or Vikings.

He must really hate Green Bay.

                                Hate Green Bay?

He hasn't just burned his bridges with the Packers, he's dropped nepalm and atomic bombs on those bridges. Not only because of this nonsense, but also last year when he tried to give the Lions info to help beat the Packers.

I believe Jay Glazer reported it and ESPN and Chris Mortensen, the Favre apologists, tried to cover it up quickly.

That is why Mort's a fraud.
