    Re: NFL Off Topic

A short while ago there was talk of Jason Campbell so thought I'd share this.

Seems the Ravens want him to be the backup to Schaub for the remainder of the season. Currently their backup is listed as Sam Koch (the punter).

They tried to sign him this offseason but he seems to prefer his retirement.

Jerome Boger's crew calls the most and also probably the worst penalties. Fitting.

Hopefully his crew keep their flags off the playing field tonight. Ed Hochuli and friends tried their best to kill a great game between the Pats and Giants last week.

I like Steretore, here's Peter King spending a week w/ his crew. Gives you an idea of the stuff the refs go through, getting graded, etc.

The MMQB went behind the scenes with NFL referee Gene Steratore and his crew for an unprecedented look at the pressures and responsibilities of the third team on the field on NFL Sundays: the seven men in stripes who enforce the rules. In Part I, we meet—and agonize with—the boss

Yeah Quinn is pretty much unbearable. They also ask him for personal context as if he was some great player "pfft". Still, it's an entertaining podcast for the most part.

Well the great players made enough money that they don't have to get into broadcasting/media after their career is over.

It's the marginal guys who have to try to make a living.

A guy like Ross Tucker has great insights and is articulate but he was nobody as a player. Doesn't mean he doesn't understand the game because he wasn't an all pro.

Ross Tucker is pretty awesome but yeah he's clearly trying to support a lifestyle by doing that podcast

                              Lifestyle?

I don't know if he finished his degree at Princeton but he could probably get a corporate job of some kind.

I think he enjoys the work because it allows him to be around the game. Probably was a fan before he played the game and wants to be involved in it as his career.

He's managed to carve out a little niche to supplement the radio work he seems to do. Maybe he wouldn't mind being on TV either but the TV jobs go to more of the name personalities.

I don't think there's big money in these podcasts. He probably would have been content to stay on the ESPN one but the budget seems to be pretty limited.

I'll have to check out Tucker's podcast because even though Quinn is grating to the ears I do like hearing some of the behind the scenes stuff. I'm sure Tucker has some great stories too.
