So you have Manziel who might not play due to partying on a bye week and Greg Hardy who actually did do something wrong will play on Thursday. I understand Manziel had problems in the past but if I played in Cleveland I'd do the same thing to stay sane.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Man these are simple life lessons that always baffle me when people scratch their head over them.
Johnny liked to party coming into the league. HE admitted he didn't take his job seriously enough, to the point he decided to go to rehab. I'm sure he had conversations with the coaching staff and the rehab stint was proof of him maturing. Since leaving rehab he's been in an car incident where he was likely drinking AND is accused of DV on his girlfriend. That not even brushed over yet, and he's popping champagne?
If I have another QB who has done absolutely nothing wrong and has been playing great anyway, why on earth would I stick by giving this screw up the starting job?
Even if you just look at this in a vacuum I don't understand the objection to benching him. He's done absolutely nothing in this league to be owed the benefit of the doubt.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
We kill players for putting themselves ahead of the team all the time. This is a pretty clear example of a coach doing it. The Browns are going nowhere and McCown is a rotting corpse. The best thing for the franchise is to get an extended look at Manziel right now. But now they can't do that because Pettine has to puff out his chest.Last edited by dsallupinyaarea; 11-24-2015, 05:37 PM.NFL - Vikings

Re: NFL Off Topic
I'm split on this:
On one hand, if Johnny himself said that he would vow to take his job seriously and not get to anymore trouble or put himself in a position to be in trouble and the Coaches took him up on his word, then I can understand them benching him. Otherwise, why set yourself up like that if you're not going to be able to resist the urge?
On the other hand, Pettine has handled this badly from beginning(he's not the first one either). You know what McCown is and has been at this point and know that he's not going to get any better, so why not see what Manziel can do for you, especially with the season already lost at this point? Not like they lose anything from letting him finish out the year anyway.#RespectTheCultureComment

Manziel is a train wreck probably in danger of getting cut. If someone (in any profession) has substance abuse issues (even of the legal, alcohol variety) and agree to rehab in an effort to regain/gain trust from their employer, getting caught twice in a matter of months out boozing is pretty much a death sentence.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Because where are you going with McCown? What useful information do you gain from games started by him? Manziel has shown flashes of life this year and it's best for the franchise to see what they have in him.
From jump, Pettine has had this bizarre obsession with punishing Manziel. This is an ego decision, not a smart decision.NFL - Vikings

Re: NFL Off Topic
Peter King article on the officiating last night.
Also an "insider" from bleacher report says that 3 head coaches in the league called last night an abomination and wants to see drastic changes such as suspensions and fines for bad officiating. There's a clear feeling right now that Dean Blandino has lost control and that a majority of coaches want his head on a platter.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Pettine's past handling of Manziel have nothing to do with today's events. Even if this current situation is another chance for him to flex his muscle, it's justified because of Menziel's actions post-rehab.Comment
