The only logical place I can see for Payton leaving the Saints, is if Garrett is fired and the Dallas job opens up. It's right in his backyard, he'd be closer to his son; and he wouldn't be far off winning with Romo/Dez/Witten on Offense.. he would just need someone to come in and fix the Defense; as Payton doesn't handle Defenses very well...
Brees has a cap hit of 30 million next year and the Saints are in salary cap hell. Just sayin'.

For that matter, none of Bellichek's coaching tree has done much once they left the fold.

Now that you mention it I remember him turning down an interview after initially agreeing to one last offseason. You're right about the coaching tree. Nothing impressive about those results at all.

I don't know if I'd say he did horribly, I'd argue he was on his way to being coach of the year his first season, then the 2nd half fell apart and he was gone halfway through year two after some Belichickian nonsense. I'm not lauding the guy or anything, it just always irks me for some reason how he tends to get crushed for how bad he was in Denver when it didn't seem he was that bad to me, especially since he was spearheading the transition from Cutler to Orton, then moving Marshall too.

And he burned a high draft pick on Tebow.

            That's an arrogant move.

I've wondered where Brees may land if staying put is not in the cards.

If I were him, I'd go to Houston. I'm not rooting for that (I hope he stays put) because I live in Houston and I really don't want them competitive but I can't think of a better fit if he leaves New Orleans.

Denver if he wants to win.

Can the Saints cut him and save a lot of cap hit?

He may want a $20 million deal, though who knows for how many years.

Sure but he was also fired before Tebow made his first start, maybe he had a secret gameplan... probably not, but he didn't get a chance to see through whatever his vision was

Well presumably McDaniels worked with Tebow when they had him in training camp this year.

Looks like there wasn't anything there after all.

Yeah that train has sailed (to quote Austin Powers) lol, but really all I'm saying is McDaniels wasn't as terrible as the perception seems, I think he'll be alright if he picks his next spot wisely

Guess those contracts they gave to Junior Galette, Jarius Byrd, and Brandon Browner are looking really smart right about now.....

Realistically I think they can extend Brees and convert some of that to signing Bonus, and get that number down to 20 mil which is fair.

However if they outright release him wouldn't that cause a huge amount of dead money they'd have to eat?

It wouldn't surprise me if he succeeded Bellichek and did pretty well.

He clearly deserves some of the credit for getting so much out of WRs and RBs that other teams discarded.

But not sure he'll do well on another team, without Bellichek and Brady.

Certainly teams will interview him after the Pats playoff run.
