Im still upset about that. I thought he was on his way to becoming elite then it went downhill. He's been average for Oakland. Im sure if he has WRs that could catch the ball he'd be a bit better. Never elite but able to put up elite numbers at times.

The Raiders need to sign Chad Johnson. That's all there is to it.

        A 3-10 team needs a 34 yo receiver? I'm sure that'll turn everything around.

Raiders have a lot of problems, most of them aren't on Palmer. This year it's been a lackluster offensive line, nonexistent run game, horrid play calling, and receivers dropping passes. Did I mention the god awful defense that couldn't stop a nosebleed?

That isn't helped by Palmer's penchant for throwing game changing interceptions at the most inopportune of times. In any case, the Raiders aren't one player away from winning anything. It's going to be a complete rebuilding effort, mostly due to Al's awful drafting and contracts, and the Palmer trade didn't help matters at all.

Raiders need one of those off seasons some teams have where only like 15 players return from the previous year.

He's a free agent lol. And if they could talk Rudi Johnson out of retirement, well there ya go.

Cowboys practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown was killed in an accident this morning. Defensive tackle Josh Brent was driving the car Brown was in early this morning and remains in Irving County Jail, charged with one count of intoxicated manslaughter.

                Sad.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has released a statement confirming the death of Jerry Brown, a linebacker on the team's practice squad.

That's awful. Seems like some of these guys will never figure out that there is no reason to drive if you've been drinking.

Todd McMahon of ESPN is reporting that Brent served time in college for a drunk driving arrest, so the odds are this is exactly what we all think it is.

It's just unfortunate. Brent has football talent and is a promising young player, but you have to have common sense to make it in the NFL (or anywhere, really) too. Today he has exercised severely poor judgment, and he's let himself down, his family down, and his team down (assuming he's guilty as charged, which I don't think it is a stretch for anyone to presume at this point).

Doesn't even get into the more tragic part of this in the loss of life of Jerry Brown. Unfortunately I don't know much about Brown, but his needless death is sad that notwithstanding.

EDIT: police report says Brent was speeding and flipped his car at least once. The accident happened around 2:20 AM local time. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...st-in-college/

Yes he did. He got busted for a DUI when he was at U of I in Champaign. Actually they both played at Illinois. I'll just never understand the idea of drunk driving especially for pro athletes. RIP Jerry.

So tragic. First Belcher, now this. Angers me knowing the guy who caused this has walked away, while a young man just trying to stay on the pratice squad has had his life taken away from him.

Obviously more details will be released in due course, but it does make me wonder whether both could of been intoxicated. I mean, surely as a teammate you would stop Brent from driving intoxicated?

Anyway, my deepest condolences go out to Browns family. Can't imagine what his family is feeling right now. A mixture of anger and heart break.

Don't drink and drive, you're never fine enough to drive home. Sad, indeed.
