That is getting lost by the discussion going into random directions.
Well in that case, I DEFINITELY agree with you.

It was definitely up to Cam and Carson. I know the award is for the regular season but when do they actually tally the vote? You'd have to think that even though it's a regular season award that last impressions will leave a mark in the voters' minds.

Until the week 17 loss I could have gone either Cam or Carson for MVP.

After that I expected it to be unanimous for Cam (Brady and Palmer got 1 vote each)

I think the vote was tallied yesterday. Cam received 48 out of 50 votes

Edit: The votes were taken before the wild card round of the playoffs

This is why these awards need to be announced immediately after the season is over. There's no way the playoffs don't play a part in the voters minds.

That said I don't mind Cam getting it and assumed he would long before the season was even over. He had a great year and was the QB of the best team, that's pretty much standard rules of MVP.

EDIT: If that last part is true ggsimmonds, then nevermind on what I said and good job by the league on that because that's how it should be.

Cam Newton is definitely this year's MVQB. Palmer had an incredible season but I don't think there's any real way to say that Palmer had more of an impact than Newton did.

Speaking of, if the MVP is going to be an auto-QB award then OPOY should go to the best non-QB. It's only fair.

                via PFT:

                MVP: 48-Cam Newton, 1-Tom Brady, 1-Carson Palmer

                Coach of the year: 36.5-Ron Rivera, 6-Andy Reid, 2-Bill O’Brien, 2-Mike Zimmer, 1.5-Gary Kubiak, 1-Bruce Arians, 1-Bill Belichick

Defensive player of the year: 37-J.J. Watt, 7-Aaron Donald, 4-Luke Kuechly, 2-Josh Norman

Offensive player of the year: 18-Cam Newton, 10-Antonio Brown 7-Russell Wilson, 6-Tom Brady, 6-Carson Palmer, 2-Julio Jones, 1-Adrian Peterson

Defensive rookie of the year: 45-Marcus Peters, 4-Ronald Darby, 1-Leonard Williams

Offensive rookie of the year: 27-Todd Gurley, 17-Jameis Winston, 4-Amari Cooper, 1-Tyler Lockett, 1-David Johnson

Comeback player of the year: 38-Eric Berry, 6-Carson Palmer, 4-Adrian Peterson, 1-Navorro Bowman, 1-Doug Martin

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton came the closest of anyone to a unanimous winner in the NFL's annual awards for the 2015 season, but Newton fell two votes short of being a unanimous league MVP.

Don't understand how the MVP race could be so clear cut yet the OPOY is a tighter contest.

Well, I guess I do understand it just dislike it.

Your argument rests entirely on an unknown. We don't know what this Panther team would look like without Cam. I think it is hard to use that as the reason he is the unquestioned MVP.
I feel pretty confident saying that if you put Cam Newton this year on this year's Cardinals and Carson Palmer this year on this year's Panthers, Cam would look just as good if not better than he actually did in Carolina, while I think Carson playing with what Cam had to work with would be an entirely different story.

Todd Bowles deserved recognition for turning a traditionally horrendous, embarrassing, bombastic bull**** franchise into one that was pretty productive, hard playing, respectable and competitive all year.

According to Peter King on Twitter this morning, Terrell Owens was eliminated in the Hall Of Fame voting process in the cutdown from 15 to 10.

I'm just gonna let that one sink in for a minute.
