Re: NFL Off Topic
I don't know if this is the source of the $15 million story or just repeating it.
The roster bonus is effectively shielded from retirement forfeiture since you can only forfeit that salary if the breach (in this case the retirement) occurs in the season the roster bonus is earned. That only would be triggered if Brady walked away in 2021. The signing bonus, however, is fair game for a retirement in 2022. That might make some sense as to why the two sides used two very different methods of payment even though the impact was 100% the same.
Per a league source with knowledge of Brady’s contract there is standard forfeiture language in the contract. That means the Bucs would have the right (but not the obligation) to recover up to $16 million in bonus prorations if he does retire. In addition Brady’s signing bonus carried a deferral of $15 million to early February. If Brady retired before that date the Buccaneers would probably no longer be under obligation to pay him that money.
I have no idea who is correct without looking at the contract itself and Brady refuses to return my calls.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I don’t think you can just plug Brady in place of Rodgers and then expect the same unlucky events Green Bay faced. Swapping g QBs creates hundreds of variables along the way and I don’t think it’s a coincidence he has won seven Super Bowls. I think it’s fair to say he would have won at least two titles if he was starting in Green Bay from 2008 until now.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I brought up those moments specifically because I’m not sure which other season the Packers are obviously contending for a championship by swapping in a less mobile quarterback into a less dynamic offense with a less capable coaching staff.
2011, 2014, and 2020 are self-evidently the best teams the Packers have put together over the past decade. Those three teams’ fates were sealed by events outside of a quarterback’s control. Changing the quarterback doesn’t change those outcomes.
Of course conversely Rodgers routinely makes passes that other QBs (Brady included) couldn't.
So the exact outcome would be different, what is unknown is whether it would be for the better or worse.Comment

And just to clarify, I was speaking more on this postseason than any other. And I know you’re going to blame it on coaching or weather conditions or other players or some other cliche(The 49ers wanted it more and were more hungry!)besides the QB as usual and that’s fine, that’s what you do.
We can go do film breakdown of each play, go over each responsibility, etc and you might be able to win me over not blaming Rodgers. But outside of that, I don’t think there’s a strong argument to suggest his play in that game didn’t play a significant part in us not winning that game(The game is a week old and I’m still not in the mood to assign a percentage # of blame to folks just yet, ask me in a month)
My apologies if I’m coming off hella defensive or disrespectful, BTW. I’m still pissed about that ****ty performance from Mr. Talks A lot among other people involved.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 01-31-2022, 06:19 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

A confession, I did not know DeMeco Ryans was the 49ers DC. Doesn't seem like he retired that long ago.Comment

I was talking about this with another person. He played at Bama before Saban got there which seems crazy to me. Couldn't believe he was drafted 15 years ago

Turns out he retired around 2015. That still seems like a very fast coaching climb to DC. And his defense is top 5. Thats impressive.Comment

Apparently Joe Theissman slipped up and told the team name, especially with the way he’s talking like it’s a reality
