I very much remember being like 12-0 and bitching about that team and being people being like "Dude, they're 12-0! They're fine!"Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: NFL Off Topic
There is no such thing as a meaningless game in the NFL.
Not when each player only gets sixteen opportunities to put down some good tape to earn his next contract, and/or to justify retaining his current spot on the roster.
The Packers didn't clinch a #1 seed in the 2011 playoffs until they beat Chicago in December even if you disagree with the above, they still factually had something to play for against the Giants earlier in the year.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
That was a meaningless game for them. When the pressure ratcheted up, they folded. I believe PF Outsiders had them as the 2nd wordt #1 seed since the early 90s. Just because they won the Super Bowl the previous year means nothing.
The way some people fetishize and make excuses for GB is totally incomprehensible to me.
Zero sense whatsoever.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
The only post you quoted in the discussion mentioned the NFC Championship game and a playoff game in 2011. Not sure how you expected anyone to know you were talking about a regular season game in a random post.Comment

It's also a big leap and assumption to think someone would say "the CCG was meaningless"...before I went with that assumption, I'd have to ask myself if that was a reasonable assumption.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

He was obviously replying to CMHooe's post just up the screen...he should've quoted it, perhaps. But all one had to do was look at the thread to see what he meant.

Okay, thanks for the advice.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
So tonight, James Harrison posted on Twitter and Instagram videos of him trying to record himself getting randomly drug tested by the League(PED Testing) and was told that he couldn't record it and that if he did, it could be counted as a positive test.#RespectTheCultureComment

That sounds exactly like something he would do. [emoji38]Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
If you don't want someone to question (and find a potential problem with) your process, you prohibit them from sharing it with their attorney. Not letting a player record it is basically saying that the NFL doesn't want their process scrutinized which is understandable (to avoid suspensions being lifted and having previously suspended players come back and say that their test was mishandled and they need compensation for the lost salary).
Basically, no matter how airtight your process is, there's no reason to allow it to be scrutinized unless you have to either under the CBA or by court order. There is nothing to be gained (and potentially massive losses) by allowing it.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Probably as simple as don't follow the directions of the tester then you won't be tested - which they've collectively bargained to be considered a positive test. Outside of what's in the CBA it's probably up to the contracted testing company (http://www.drugfreesport.com/ in this case) and their testing policies for stupid situations like this one.Comment

Double edged sword there by saying "we have this great open and fair testing system!" but then not allowing anyone to see exactly how it's done.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
