Re: NFL Off Topic
I think that with the loss of the support from some owners and the bad blood with the NFLPA, Goodell "resigns" before the next CBA negotiations. Him anywhere near it will strengthen NFLPA resolve IMO.

NFL Off Topic
In my opinion all the NFL wants is for these guys to interview this whole Al Jazeera thing can be finished and forgotten. The league wants nothing to do with distractions right now involving players with the name value these guys have. As said above, much ado about nothing.
They're going about a formality very strangely then. Why did they make this such a public issue then? They're trying to pressure the players in doing what they want, and the suspension threat is a way for them to strongarm them in to doing so.
I see them interviewing the players as the cops questioning you when you've done nothing wrong. They assure you this is all just part of the process and they're on your side, then grill you like you have done something wrong. These players may have never done PED's but maybe they've associated with some people who do dealings in that stuff, it would be very easy for the NFL to jump to the conclusion.
The players also aren't just trying to clear their name. They are making sure their rights as given to them by the CBA aren't being broken by the NFL. This is bigger then just them or just this one report.
It's not just if you've done nothing wrong, just do the interview. Of course it'll be framed that way, but the reality is different.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NFL Off Topic
"Union gonna Union"? I guess so, man lol
If 2 of the players(Peppers and Matthews) in this already spoke with the league, what's the point of them speaking with them again when they still don't have any proof other than some flawed hearsay?

Don't know about that last part because if that was the case, we would've stopped talking about this even before they reported to camp.
This got dragged out for almost no reason.#RespectTheCultureComment

NFL Off Topic
The NFLPA just came out and said the NFL released this stuff to the media instead of hashing it out behind closed doors as a professional organization of their size and power should.
The NFL knows that the public perception will be, "If you didn't do anything, just interview." knowing that the public can't wrap their head around the farther reaching consequences of that statement.
The NFL goes about almost everything in the worst possible way. They throw their weight around like they're exempt from rules in place or that people/organizations/cities will bow down to the almighty NFL.
I'm not even one of those people who just hate the NFL (despite loving the product). The Brady witch hunt and excessively drawn court battle, the BountyGate stuff, Goodell's awful track record of suspending players without the final facts coming out, the covering up/silencing of concussion critics, pulling out of helping fund top end research for that stuff because it won't jive with their line of thinking, they just stink. They've shown that they can't handle their own matters fairly.
I know NFL players are far from perfect and the union has to defend those bad apples too, but everything the NFL does seems to have a sinister underlying motive to it. The fact that we even have to think the NFL could be leaning one way and just needs that one quote to bury a player shows how much little trust we have in their actions.
The initial report was BS and the NFL insisting on this stuff is continuing to drag these player's names and reputations through the mud. The players are resistant because they can't trust the NFL's transparency and they're being treated hostilely because of that reluctance when the NFL is the one that created that environment.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: NFL Off Topic
What owners has he lost the support of? The only one I could think of would be Kraft but Kraft has said great things about Goodell recently.

Yea I knew they had loss some owners because of the Spygate penalty. But I figure with how he handled the Deflategate stuff they were ok with him.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Mike Neal now agreeing to interview also. So could all go away shortly if there's nothing more than the initial report.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Was the NFL pursuing this issue like they are when Manning's name was at the top of the list.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Dan Snyder, Bowl Cut Davis, Jimmy Haslam, to a degree Jerruh and Kraft who was his biggest supporter next to the Mara's.
