I think some of that comes from just how corporate the game has become and how every little thing is micromanaged to the point that you can't really individualize yourself. Another aspect is that the focus in a lot of respects has gone from the WR to the QB in terms of people fawning over and being overly critical of one person on the field.

BTW the Football Life on Chad Johnson was excellent. One should check that out.
        Dez Bryant?

        And of course, this guy...

Keep in mind, TO was a model citizen off the field. His issues on the field are VERY similar to Dez imo.

I'm ok with OBJ. He wears his heart on his sleeve. His young still, but seems like a good guy behind the scenes. I don't think his a problem.

Dez is a whole different level. He's always been a distraction on and off the field. His always flipping out on people on the sideline as well. Not to mention his apparently known to miss meetings and just this week skipped an MRI to which Garrett said via ESPN; -

Coach Jason Garrett said there would be "repercussions" but called Bryant's absence, "well intended" because of the receiver's passion.
What the hell? A star player is allowed to get away with skipping an MRI "because of his passion". This is what is wrong with the Cowboys, and they seriously need to stop taking egotistical players. When I think of the Cowboys, the first word that comes to mind is "Divas". When players egos are bigger than the team and they can get away with excuses like that, there is a problem.

I'm not a fan of Dez nor am I in a place to judge him (as you apparently are) but I can't hold judgement at all for him skipping this MRI for the reason he did.

This is what I'm wondering. Can't really see a guy deciding to go to rehab for weed, especially when he was, by all accounts, on track to make his return to the field next week.

Could be a PR move to get out in front of news on a recent incident. It's also certainly possible he has other substance abuse problems that would require rehab. I just have a hard time believing he found the need to check into rehab because he was still smoking.

From everything I know about Ocho Cinco, he's a pretty good dude.

Obviously not perfect, he's had his issues - but he seems like a legitimately good guy. I remember stories (not widely run, from what I remember) that he'd buy out blocks of tickets to prevent blackouts and then give them to people that brought perishable food items in to help out the homeless shelters.

Plenty of other stories about him connecting with fans/community and helping others in need too.

He'll take groups of fans out to movies or dinner, as well.

I'll never forget when he tweeted out what restaurant he was going to one night and then bought dinner for everyone that showed up. And took a huge group photo with everyone. It was like a couple hundred people, I think.

I was pretty sure ggsimmond's post was in jest, but let me hear more of these stories about 85.

My personal favorite is when he told Marvin Lewis he wanted to be great like Lewis could just anoint him as such. He was like a little kid haha.

Always seemed like a good dude, just a cheeseball.

I've always been a fan of his and he did the restaurant thing multiple times. He was one of the best reminders that football is supposed to be fun.

He was miked up in a game vs the Ravens and at one point he was chatting with Suggs. Bart Scott came over to break them up and Chad told him that he is not the bad guy and he loves him. He then went over to the ref to complain that Bart was being mean.
