It's dumb for the NFL to do it just like it was dumb for the Olympics. One day they'll realize this is counter productive.

Man there are some HOT takes...like PIPING HOT OMFGWATCHOUT takes, flying around Denver this week about the Talib situation. It's hilarious

      I've heard everything from:

"He broke no law an deserves no punishment"

      to

"Brady gets 4 games for a squishy football, this guy fires a gun in public. WTF NFL?????"

      to

"TJ Ward throws a mug toward a bartender and got suspended, Talib should be cut."

      to

"If he wasn't our second best player we would have a real issue with this." (this is probably pretty true, for a lot of people)

      to

"Nobody would care about what Talib did if he wasn't in the NFL"

That is just the ones I remember from the radio yesterday.

lol, the excuses of a gm on the hot seat: Colts GM blames Luck's contact for having a bad defense.

Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson has taken some criticism for not building a good enough team around quarterback Andrew Luck.

No one put a gun to Grigson's head to offer that contract theoretically speaking.

I feel like there's going to be some housecleaning after this season.

He's basically saying, "I'm not good enough to do this job."

You drafted and signed this guy to the contract he has and deserves. That's not Luck's fault. The responsibility falls on the GM to identify talent and draft/sign it to his football team and to put the right coaching and personnel staff in place to maximize those players potential.

It's a challenge that all GM's face, but I'm certain Grigson gets paid handsomely to do it.

I mean the Seahawks have somehow found a way to extend pretty much every core guy on defense while still extending Russell Wilson. Not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison since they had an advantage working off of Russell's smaller rookie contract, but still. That's a pretty weak line of thinking by Grigson.

So what's his excuse for the 3 years Luck was on the rookie scale?

Just my opinion, with slotted draft picks these days if you have a franchise QB on a huge contract you need to make good picks in the draft. I haven't followed the Colts draft picks the past few years (though they did trade a first for Richardson), but just looking at the quality of talent they have I don't see any reason to say they have made good picks.

Rapoport reporting that the 49ers and Kap are close to restructuring his contract to remove the injury guarantees. It would cut the final three years off his deal and may give the Kap the option to void the remainder of the contract after this year.

I feel pretty confident Kap is going to start the Buffalo game.

What is going to happen is teams will send the video/gifs to the league for approval, and then the really good ones end up on the league's social media accounts.

The dude did also admit that his defensive picks haven't panned out as well, but yeah, throwing your QB under the bus for his contract isn't a good look IMO.

Agreed. I was a fan of Pagano until he made that ridiculous comment that Andrew Luck needs to stop playing like a linebacker. If you want him to stop running with the ball all the time, find some linemen who will block for him. They seem to have found at least one decent lineman with Haeg, the guy from ND state. They need to terminate Castonzo's contract, though. He is horrible.
