Seems like as good a fit as anywhere.

Gotta think Shady will bounce back a bit. Bills passing offense has been pretty awful for years. Chiefs are one of the best passing offenses. With Shady’s unique running style, feels like he’ll be able to take advantage of the space he’ll have. I’m not a Chiefs guy but neither Williams or any other back on that roster don’t exactly excite me.

Love watching McCoy play so I hope he gets the opportunity and shows he’s still got it.

Isn't the whole deal guaranteed if he is on the roster week 1 as a vested veteran?

Another holdout that (probably) ends favorably for the player. If they work, then keep holding out.

Meanwhile in LA (I typed San Diego first...) it looks like Melvin Gordon will be taking the year off. Chargers GM said contract discussions are suspended until the off-season unless Gordon's camp finds a trade partner.

How exactly does that work anyway?

Hey Team, you want Melvin Gordon? Uhh yeah. Okay cool. Seems easy. But the agent can’t negotiate compensation (picks, players) for the player’s current team. Unless it’s all hypothetical, but even then they’d need all the cap numbers and stuff. Seems unwieldy.

I believe the team gives the agent general parameters of what they’re looking for whether it be players, picks, or both.

He is currently under contract so it's not too difficult, he'd report and they'd trade him, and his new team would already have the framework of an extension worked out.

Or they find out nobody is willing to pay what he wants and he's another year older next year.

Well, supposedly (unlike Bell's case) if Gordon doesn't play a certain amount of games this season then he won't accrue a year toward his contract leaving him still under contract but a year older and "rested".

The trigger is 4 years, which he's already hit. He could sit out the whole year and become a free agent as I understand it.

I’d trade Gordon, I don’t think he’s worth a massive contract and they’re in decent shape at RB. No absolute bellcow back but who is nowadays. The problem is, after seeing some of the returns for AB, Clowney, I wouldn’t move him just to do it. Take the compensation pick next year when he walks then trade for potentially less than what they’d receive. Seems he has way less leverage than Bell did and we saw how hard the Steelers played.

He can still be tagged next year by the Chargers if he sits out this year.

Rams are giving QB Jared Goff a four-year, $134 million extension that includes an NFL-record $110 million guaranteed, per source. It ties him to LA through 2024 season.
