Because if this had been about Vince Young or Matt Leinart or anyone else, I guarantee you wouldn't have said a word.
I have asked at least twice now what you meant by your statement. You continue to say I insinuated something, but you haven't given me your true reason for making the statement to correct me.

I may not care about VY or Leinart, but you won't see me on here saying anything to anyone who does…they can be as much a fan of any player/discuss said player as they want and I don't care/make any statement about it. I never have.

Refs work part time for the NFL and have full time jobs outside of the NFL and they have to be pretty well off in order to pull off working their actual job and being able to ref games.

They essentially have to have jobs where they can take a Monday or Thursday (or Friday depending on where the game is) off for when they are scheduled. Not everyone can do that.

Most 20-30 year olds are still trying to build their personal career and would not have the means or time to ref in the NFL as well.

The big fascination I have with Tebow is that unlike most incredibly popular athletes and cultural figures, I'd actually consider Tim a role model. He is well spoken to the point he actually seems like he was educated, he has a terrific work ethic, never gives up even when the odds are completely stacked against him, doesn't get into trouble, and comes off as a genuine human being.

I suppose beyond the actual good role model thing, there is also the David versus Goliath aspect. Tebow is a huge under dog, and not just an under dog but a likeable under dog. Tebow doesn't have the baggage a guy like Russel does, which means his "comeback" is far more compelling. He is an individual I want to see succeed, just like Fitzpatrick and Luck. I like their character, and I mean that like how an actor plays a character. We don't really know much about these people, we get small glimpses that creates a character of themselves.

I suppose it has something to do with sports being entertainment.

Refs in their 20s and 30s are still working high school games. You can't just start as an NFL ref.

Yeah I reffed for a year, and I started with junior high games at small *** local schools. You go from that, to JV, to varsity, to assistant in college, to main guy in college, then after about 20-30 years, you move up to the big time.

The referee hierarchy/moving up system is VERY similar to coaching.

Seahawks interfere like crazy daring the officials to throw flags constantly.

Love it! This brand of football that Pete Carroll has brought has been tremendous.

I mean, I'm sure you don't like it as I know you've complained in the 49ers-Packers thread about officiating (well, at least when it goes against the 49ers lol). But man do we love it here in Seattle and I think other teams' fans are going to see how exciting it is to have a defense that plays with real aggression regardless of what the modern NFL would like.

I actually hope this style permeates the league, and I think it will. For years I couldn't stand the effect of defensive pass interference in the NFL's attempt to create more offense. Finally we are seeing at least one secondary that is really hearkening back to an older, more physical style of football.

Of course a lot of teams and fans like you aren't going to like it, but that's natural as it is the Seahawks who are doing it and right now the Seahawks are not liked by a lot of different teams and their fanbases. That's okay. I'm sure once your team, in this instance the 49ers, adopts this style you will defend it vigorously.

So I've had the fantastic time of watching Michael Bennett and Blount go off in the divisional round while the Buccaneers were eliminated from the playoffs in week 1.

A grand Seattle sports tradition resurfaces?

Anyone here old enough to remember the George Karl/Gary Payton Sonics? They used a very similar approach to defending the Olajuwon era Rockets: they would double team Hakeem before he had the ball on every possession and dare the refs to call it.
