If Checkdown Charlie had a 14 year NFL career, Tebow sure derserved more than 3.

You know who else spent 3 season on an NFL roster? Tyler Palko.

I'll add something about Tebow for me personally…

On two levels, I'm going to be interested in him…I'm a Gator fan and watched him for 4 years at Florida.

Secondly, my father in law works with him with FCA. I am in the military…one day my father in law was telling Tim what a huge Gator fan I am. Tim asked for my address…two weeks later, with me knowing, a picture of Tebow with a personalize message on it shows up at my door. It hangs in my office now and is one of the coolest things I've ever gotten…and I don't even do autographs.

Of course I'm going to be interested in how he does…

I enjoy watching the best players, but that isn't why I watch sports at all…if they were all Aaron Rodgers it would get boring.
It actually doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Id rather have more players like Tebow who are positive and doesn't get in trouble compared to others in the NFL.
This is the problem I have when people use stats without any context. Because they can make ANY player look good.

As for your second point, there actually are a LOT of players like Tebow who are positive and don't get into trouble. A LOT more than the ones that do get in trouble but the problem is the few that do get in trouble get a lot more attention than the ones that don't.

Then why make a post saying you don't get it? It's like me saying "I don't get why people are Packer fans"…just because I'm not.

Just to be clear, I don't think Tebow 'deserves' anything from the NFL or any team…if he doesn't get a chance he'll be fine, I'll be fine. I certainly would like to see him get a chance though…I enjoy watching him play.

Which will always be the case. Which story are you more likely to read?

"NFL player goes home after game, eats dinner with family, asleep at 10:15 pm"

            OR

"NFL player arrested and charged with (whatever)"

I used stats earlier in the thread to compare Tebow to Vick and Brady. I didn't say he was good or would be good but he isn't terrible and he won. Rather that was due to him or not he still won and most people only care about winning.

Of course he is, you can't seriously say Tebow's not better than Palko and other QB's of that caliber.

And I realize how all the conundrum about him can annoy people, even though it's not his fault.

I forgot what point I was trying to make, time to leave this discussion.

Me asking a question means I'm bothered by it?

And it really isn't, but I digress

Has the bar been lowered to the point where now just winning ONE playoff game in their career is a big accomplishment now? Or means they don't stink?

Rex Grossman has won 2 playoff games and people still say he sucks.
Mark Sanchez went to 2 AFC Championship Games in his first 2 years and people say he sucks too.

If we're going to use numbers, at least have some sort of context involved in it.

Did they get more than one season to start? Tebow only started one season so you don't have much to work with but for his one season he did pretty good.

I'll be honest, I don't think either of them suck…if put in the right situation I think they can succeed. As fans it goes like this: Not Brady/Brees/Rodgers/Manning = SUCK. The truth is there is a large number of NFL QB's who are just…average; I'd put Grossman/Sanchez in that category.

Because I didn't. Not sure how many ways I can say that.

You got some other BS from my original post that I didn't say or insinuated and it snowballed from there because you got bothered by it, especially considering who this is about. Because if this had been about Vince Young or Matt Leinart or anyone else, I guarantee you wouldn't have said a word.

Grossman hasn't started a game in 2 years and Sanchez might've just lost his job in NY and it's not like he was doing much to hold on to it.
