It's just so frustrating seeing a seemingly different set of rules from regular to postseason games.

I think officials are afraid to become a big part of a game regardless if they're making the right call. They're not going to get involved unless a penalty is egregious.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I like the fact officials are allowing the defenses to play. I agree on the missed false starts, but I'll trade that for defense being allowed. Though, I do wish they'd call games consistently throughout both the regular and post seasons.Comment

Packers/49ers peaked yesterday at 53.7 million viewers.
Averaged 47.1 million for the game.
Expanded playoffs are coming. There's no chance the NFL and owners see those numbers and don't instantly begin scheming on how to make more from it. Those are absolutely insane viewer numbers.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: NFL Off Topic
I feel bad for the officials in this way: They're damned if they do damned if they don't. So yes, it's alarming that they're not seemingly doing their job but if they call it as they see it than people will cry out that the officials are taking over the game.
They just can't win and that's not even including incidents where they completely butcher a call.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

That's essentially what i'm saying except they should be consistent in both the regular season AND playoffs. Not just using one set of rules and then abandoning them when it's playoff time.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: NFL Off Topic
In this day and age, there's ALWAYS going to be someone that has an issue with Officiating. And it's not just in the NFL, it's in all sports and even worse in the NBA.
I've already accepted the fact long ago that Officiating will never be perfect across the board. It'll be just good enough to keep people from focusing on every single penalty/missed penalty that takes place, but it'll never be perfect to the point where somebody isn't going to have an issue with it. Maybe that's why I don't get up in arms with Officiating like others do. Call it lowered expectations I guess.
I also don't think there's a different set rules from regular season to the postseason. Just that once the Postseason starts, every little thing gets magnified x1000 in comparison to the regular season and then we expect every, single, minute thing to get called(I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with that either, BTW). But I'm with areobee in that I'm glad they're letting these guys play though.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
But remember after the way the Pats-Panthers game ended, there was talk about the unwritten rule that they won't throw flags at the end of games no matter what, hence the hold on Bronk not to be called is expected.
So in a close game, at the end, a defense might be inclined to dare the officials to throw a flag in similar situations.Comment

The concussion plaintiffs filed their motion for approval of the $765 settlement with the NFL today. Now to go before Judge Brody..
Given the ref discussion I'm posting this link again for insight into their world, probably one of the best football-related stories I've read in the last couple of years. It's like watching Hard Knocks for the first time, just want more more more.
