And to add to this ever since Hernandez got arrested 4 years ago, Belichick has cut back on bringing in troubled guys. Only one I can think of is BlountComment

Anyway, lets all hope Josh Gordon's demons only strech as far as the occasional joint and not an itchy trigger finger.....Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
When was Moss ever a drug addict that had to step away from life to go into a rehab facility?
And I'm not knocking Gordon. Addiction is bad. Hope he gets his life straightened out.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Granted he was pretty much clean throughout the rest of his career, at least officially, but the similarities are there. And he wasn't exactly an angel in the locker room. Neither is Gordon, by what I've heard.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Surely, T.O. will get in the HOF in 2017 right? I was watching a top-10 list on the NFLN and then a hours worth of time just about T.O. The only guy I think was better (on the field) than T.O. during his career was Moss...not Marvin Harrison, not even Fitzgerald. I get he had a ton of off-field drama but the guy delivered on the field...he had a half-broken leg in the SB against NE and put out awesome numbers.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Speaking of T.O. and Moss, I was watching some of the programming on NFL-N from last night and it seems to me that the "me generation" of WRs seems to be over. On the Top Ten WRs of the 2000s over half of those guys were loud, obnoxious self centered players. As far as I know there doesn't seem to be that kind of brash WR around in the game today. I think some of that comes from just how corporate the game has become and how every little thing is micromanaged to the point that you can't really individualize yourself. Another aspect is that the focus in a lot of respects has gone from the WR to the QB in terms of people fawning over and being overly critical of one person on the field.
BTW the Football Life on Chad Johnson was excellent. One should check that out.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Two very different people in two (Or in T.O's case, several) very different circumstances.
It's one of those "What if?" type debates. Harrison had Manning for his entire career. T.O bounced about between average to very good teams but never had a QB like Manning.
Regardless, I think he deserves to go in. Moss deserves to go in soon as well.

There's definitely some supremely talented guys with flair, look no further then OBJ. But even with this week's drama of his coach saying his outburst on the sideline was possibly a distraction and he needs to check his emotions on the sideline, it seems like him and Eli are right on the same page and it's just an overall frustration then an attack on any one player. You don't see him hawking over McNabb like TO did in Philly. He was just wearing his emotions on his sleeve, but not in a way that would come off as being disrespectful to his teammates. OBJ's said pretty much exactly that. And he actually had a good reason to be pissed at Eli or that OL that negated one of his big plays.
I'm sure behind closed doors there is some stuff said, maybe some beef between players but as long as it's kept between the 53 men who suit up every game, that's just part of it. There's a lot riding on every play of every game, so to expect guys to just shrug and be okay with situations that aren't ideal is unrealistic. But you can express yourself without being an ******* like some WR's in the past have been, and pretty much all the players I've seen of late have acted professionally in the public eye as far as that behavior goes.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Watched the one on Rodney Harrison and thought it was ok, but not as good as the others have been.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Steve Smith is the only one that comes to mind. But his not the same as guys like Moss or T.O or Chad. He just bigs himself up a lot and for the most part has backed it up. But he's never been a problem to my knowledge. He demands respect and makes sure other players know about it.
Other than that, most guys now let their play do the talking.
