And they have nobody else but themselves to blame for being in this situation...again.

        Not sure what you mean.

They were never damned if they don't, if I'm understanding you correctly. They just didn't, and we didn't care. I think they would've been applauded and considered living up to their promise if they hit him with 6 games from the beginning (or at least put him on the exempt list and did a proper investigation initially).

One of my three jobs is at an NFL stadium. In my opinion, the experience at home would be better for the money. You're talking tickets around $100, parking for like $30-$40, and super expensive food & beer. Not worth it. Unless you're in a box, and have the $$$ to blow.

I have a lot of fun tho from the perspective I have. I'll be at the Eagles-Vikings game on Sunday and it's gonna be a ton of fun.

But they made damn sure that Brady was going to serve his time one way or another though.

Apparently, they felt the Shield's black eye was more important than Mrs. Brown's.

My point was they do nothing more, more information keeps coming out post-discipline, and he's forever the example of a DV situation that only got one game. They do something about it now that more information is out, and it's 'oh it's PR' and 'should have done it right in the first place' after a 10 month investigation where neither the wife or authorities cooperated with the NFL. So apparently it's wrong to fix their mistake. People just like railing against the NFL.

They stick to the rules on other stuff and they're the no fun league, people forget about fine schedules and other collectively bargained rules that have been around for years, and we get to hear how the NFL is tougher on DUI than beating women, etc.

It was dumb that it was only one game to begin with, I don't think they ever explained why it was reduced that significantly. Their statement even says that it can be reduced based on mitigating circumstances, so apparently the lack of cooperation and information lead to that, we don't know.

Their mistake, they've earned the ire - but they were going to get it either way.

Dude's a horrible person, all the details released weren't available until a year after the fact because they were held in the event she decided to press charges, he deserves everything coming to him - except for that paycheck he'll get on the exempt list. Wish the Giants would have cut him first. I wonder if he has to be reinstated for them to do so now. Welcome to the Ray Rice club, idiot kicker.

They KNEW they would catch hell, just like they did when it was first announced he would only(ONLY)get a one game despite the fact that THEY were the ones screaming that "From this day forward, anybody that gets arrested for a Domestic Violence incident will now serve a mandatory 6 game suspension regardless if charges are pressed or dropped".

People just like railing against the NFL.
Works both ways considering you love caping for them even it's obvious they're wrong. Nobody would be "railing against the NFL" if they had gone by THEIR word in the first place. Be careful throwing those rocks from inside your glass house.

They stick to the rules on other stuff and they're the no fun league, people forget about fine schedules and other collectively bargained rules that have been around for years, and we get to hear how the NFL is tougher on DUI than beating women, etc.
You mean the same rules that they're constantly inconsistent on? They're more harsher on you on some ******* air than they are hitting a woman.

They're not slick. They thought they would be able to sweep this under the rug and nobody would raise a stink about it after they handed Brown his suspension. And the messed up part about is that it actually almost worked.

Their mistake, they've earned the ire - but they were going to get it either way.
You're exactly right. We've would've still gave them crap for holding true to their word/threat.

Defending myself, not the NFL. People were going to find reasons to bitch no matter the circumstances in this case given the initial punishment and the eventual facts. Policy gives them an out to reduce the suspension, they took it given the facts and explained exactly why. Evidence released, investigation reopened, action being taken to do the right thing and hilariously people still complain - hence, damned if they do, damned if they don't. I agree with everyone else that it should have been an automatic six games but we're also enjoying the benefit of looking at everything in hindsight.

This is apples and oranges though. People keep talking about deflated balls but Brady's suspension was for not cooperating... and it dragged on because he was trying to get them to rescind it. If Brady (the NFLPA) had gotten his way, it would've looked MUCH worse for the NFL.

Obviously I agree with your feelings on the Brown situation, but just don't see a connection the the Brady situation.

This is a bunch of lip service. They screwed up with Rice, but put a system in place to help keep from it happening again. All they had to do was stick to it, but they gave him one game and tried to move on... the same crap they did before and initially with Rice. Anyone who would've gotten on them for giving Brown 6 games out of the gate deserves your comment but their stupidity eliminates any chance of you proving it would've been a large number.

Disagree but I'm not gonna rehash that discussion back up. Already dealt with that for a year and that was too much, lol.

That Awful Announcing article is basically everything I've said about football for years now but was routinely criticized or mocked about mentioning talking "slippery slopes" and whatnot.

The only thing I'll disagree with was that last year's Super Bowl was awesome. It was a master class. I don't give a **** if the casual fan didn't enjoy it.

The Chargers are expecting to lose their stadium vote, likely relocating to LA after the season.

This gets tricky if the owners wait until March to vote on the Raiders relocating to Vegas, because the Chargers lose their exclusive window on LA and it becomes an option for the Raiders. NFL currently waiting on market studies and whatnot on both Oakland and Las Vegas before their expected vote.

If the owners ultimately vote against Vegas it could get real messy if the Chargers have not yet moved.

So i was watching some of the ESPN NFL programming this morning and hoo boy, this Josh Brown story is a HUGE mess. Mara and the Giants knew this guy had a DV problem and STILL signed this guy to a 2 year deal. There was an instance at the Pro Bowl where he was banging on the hotel room door and NFL/Giants security had to move him and his now ex wife to another hotel. I really don't understand why Roger Goodell and the NFL can't seem to stick by their tough talk. It's better to throw the book and then adjust rather than do nothing, don't look into the situation properly and hope no one notices.

This is essentially 2014 all over again. I loved Randy Moss' comments regarding this mess as he pretty much expressed the frustrations that owners, players and some fans are having with the NFL and their "policy". I know Goodell is popular but really, his hamfisted approach to things and the reactionary nature of the league office makes me feel like the owners would be wise to turn the page and find a new Commish. (Don't worry, I know that's not likely)

It sure doesn't seem like Goddell is popular among the fans, players or media.

The owners may use the lower ratings as a reason to get rid of him.
