Saw some sports writers (well one in particular) saying the Lions should "aim higher" by going after McDaniels and firing Caldwell. Just dumb. I'd hope Quinn would be smart enough not to fall into the same mistakes as seemingly every other Pats exec/assistant has fallen into.

Coaches from Bellichek's tree have have very limited success.

But sooner or later they should break through, at least be a viable contenders over several seasons.

Because you can't completely attribute the Pats' success only on Bellichek and Brady. Those coordinators have to have some level of competence or else Bellichek would jettison them.

That's all I've seen and heard all season. I'd rather not take the risk with McDaniels. It's hard to judge his maturity behind the curtain that is New England, but I wasn't very impressed with at Denver.

Same with Matt Patricia. How can you tell he is a potentially worthy head coach when he works under Bill Belichick, a coach who is a defensive minded coach by trade and has only ever held defensive positions in his time on any staff.

The Steelers have put Porter on leave.

Apparently, Kevin Greene is interested in replacing him should the Steelers ultimately let Porter go.

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed linebackers coach Joey Porter on leave Monday following his Sunday night incident at a bar on the Southside that resulted in him being arrested and it’s unclear at this point when and if he’ll ultimately be reinstated. With Porter’s coaching future with Pittsburgh now up in the air, it appears as […]

If this report is true, it seems some players of the Giants have some maturing to do this off-season.

Via New York Post & several other sources; -

The Giants took out their frustrations at blowing their first shot at the Super Bowl in five years by trashing the jumbo jet that carried them home — leaving it reeking of booze and forcing a major clean-up at Newark Airport, passengers who boarded the plane afterward told The Post on Monday.

Mark Kropf said he was waiting to board United Airlines Flight 934 out of Newark when “the pilot came out and asked for everyone’s patience, and shared where the plane came from and that the plane needed extra help repairing and cleaning the interior.”

“Another 30 minutes passed and the gate agent told us it was the Giants that destroyed the biz class cabin, and we saw service personnel walking countless seat cushions off the plane,” Kropf, a tech company employee from Brooklyn, wrote in a message via Twitter.

“Upon entering the business class cabin, the cleaning scent only partially masked the alcohol smell. I had popcorn, chewing tobacco and other food crumbs on my seat.”

Jeez....I know a lot of people sometimes have problems with disciplinarian types like Coughlin but you know as well as I do that there wouldn't have been some boat party or a trashing of the plane like this if he (or someone of his type) were there this year.

Meh, Jury is still out. 3 win improvement is great but some bounce back should have been priced in after a 6-10 injury riddled season.

Notice how nobody even bothered to ask Garrett about the Romo/Dak decision? They didn't because everyone knows Jerry Jones runs that team lol.

But all jokes aside, coaching the Cowboys is unlike any other job and this would be the exception that proves the rule.

Think it's a little different with Marrone.

He walked from a HC gig in Buffalo after two years. The word was he needed to put in some time as a coordinator or position coach to get his name back up. It's been two years on Bradley's staff. This has been in the making it seems.

He could be a good HC. But I can't ever be cool with him after what he did here. But hey, maybe he's the right one. Looks that way now.

Every time a team does this there's a list of reasons why it's different this time.

My larger point is that the decision making logic doesn't check out when teams go down this path. You fire the HC because of performance then you promote his top assistant who, in theory, would have had a large hand in that same performance. Was he deliberately sabotaging the HC? Keeping all the good stuff secret until he got his shot? Even if these things are true, are those really traits you seek in a leader? It just doesn't make any sense.

It also took Garrett 6 years to get his coaching record above .500. Not many coaches get that long of a leash.

Who was injured for the 2015 Bucs? That wasn't an injury riddled season, bruh. I'd argue Tampa dealt with more injuries this year.

I gave y'all Jason Garrett. The McAdoo/Koetter jury is still out because it's one season. Almost all of the above referenced flops had one bounce back year following the interim tag being removed.

The logic just doesn't check out for me. What was the top assistant doing during all that losing that got the HC fired? Faced with the prospects of being fired, and knowing you only get 1 or 2 chances to be an NFL HC, the top guy really shot down all of the assistant's genius ideas that would have turned the ship around? I don't buy it.
