      Uniform News

The 2017 NFL rule book has added three words (“and the club”) that now permit the Commissioner to impose discipline on both the player and the team for uniform violations, beyond any in-game penalties that could be called.

Sounds like the "and the club" proviso will hit upon the equipment managers for the teams when these violations crop up.

Doubt it. How do you fine a guy making between 65-110K a year 10K for the actions of millionaire players who get their cleats delivered to them by the manufactures?

I think it's more so now teams will discourage their players from uniform violations knowing it will come out of their pocket too.

We've had guys in the past eat the fine and be okay with it. I think the league threatened suspensions in the past but that's not a good look. Now when a player violates the rule, they have to hear from their direct employer about it.

Panthers give Trai Turner a 4 year $45M extension, $20.5M guaranteed and cut Michael Oher after a failed physical stemming from his concussion from last year.

Hopefully Oher turns out to be okay. 8 months later and he's still not recovered.

They can try but players in the big picture are independent contractors with no loyalty to the team. Hell a disgruntled player may seek out greater penalties against the team just to be petty.

It's quite disturbing to say the least. The NFL can't really continue this charade of saying the evidence isn't clear cut.

On a far less troubling note (though irritating to me) is that there are some folks from ESPN pushing the idea that the Patriots could go 16-0 again this season. Look, I know the Pats are a really good team but I just can't see them pulling that off again. Thank goodness we'll be seeing actual football on the field very soon.

Andy Reid has given Michael Vick a chance before.

Now, the Chiefs coach is giving his former quarterback a chance to be a coach.

The Chiefs have announced via the team’s Twitter account that Vick was working as a coaching intern during training camp.

While in Philadelphia, Reid became the safe harbor for Vick after his conviction and imprisonment on federal dog fighting charges. He played five years there, and was their primary starter from 2010-12.

With Kansas City, he’ll have a chance to work with first-rounder Patrick Mahomes, though it’s unclear at this point if his instruction will extend to Mahomes’ hairstyle.

Andy Reid is a pretty good guy. It's awesome to see he's giving Vick a chance to coach a bit even if it's just in camp. I believe Vick can give valuable insight both on and off the field.

I don't want to defend the NFL because this IS a problem but the title of that article going around (99% of Percent of Deceased NFL Players' Brains in Study) is inherently false and irresponsible to write as a statement when there is no way to know the exact percentage.
