Re: NFL Off Topic
So I see the “comply or die” mantra has made its way here as well.
If the argument that’s being made from certain folks, including the police involved in the incidents that they come into aggressively and firing shots within seconds of interacting with the victims is that they used necessary force because they feared for their lives with unarmed people and somehow find the courage to not come guns a blazing on suspects who’ve murdered upwards of 30 people in 20 minutes then I don’t want to hear any compliance arguments. Especially since we have an unarmed man lying on his back with his hands up who wasn’t even the offender in his altercation get shot anyway or a man who complied with every order and did the right thing and disclosed his concealed carry status get shot and killed in front of his girlfriend and small daughter for reaching for his carry card as he was told to provide, then yeah the comply or die mess can go somewhere.

With the shootings and stuff, I don't like to compare different departments. I like to see what the respective departments reputation is beforehand. Minneapolis is interesting in that another officer is now charged with killing a person. This after one officer was aquitted in the Castillo case. That one I am watching closely to see whether it plays out the same. I know of a case in Louisiana where the cops were (rightly, IMO) convicted for killing a kid who's dad was being reckless trying to escape. I can't help but note race of the cops/victim.
All that being said, my wife said something interesting to me that I never considered. She said, "Baby, what does the NFL itself have to do with police brutality?" She totally gets why the entire league responded last year after being politically attacked for excersing their rights. And, being a Black family with a young son we know the minefield ahead. But i thought for a second and had a moment of empathy for the NFL. Their bungling and being tone deaf only exacerbated things as they always do. But I can't think of an organization more I'll equipped to handle something like this dropping in their lap.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Not so much NFL related, but still football related.
Thinking of going to a game, but don't know where a good spot might be(of all available places).
The best ones I see are sections 111(near the field) and then after that, next best ones are ones like 219-220. Most available seats are all the corner views, so not sure if it's better to go somewhere like 200 level where it's a higher angle, or pay slightly more(about $5) and get almost field level at 111, but the angle wouldn't be so great.
You can view the virtual seats on here:

I don't want to get into the politics of any of this here, but I do want to say the NFL has done the absolute WORST job they could have in handling it; when you have everyone mad at you, saying the things that are being said about you...that's hard to do!"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Bravo to the NFL for effing things up royally. The funny thing is, this story had completely died down til they went and did this madness.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

On the Florida incident where the deputies stood by: my blood boils over that.
On topic: this is such a terrible move and I hate it. Let them freaking kneel my goodness. If it offends you then go cry about it.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: NFL Off Topic
Please guys keep the political talk out of the thread. I come to OS to read about sports and such and not about all the other BS. And don't give me the "this is an NFL issue so we are discussing it BS". There plenty of other political stuff that involves other topics on OS that are are not being discussed.

Nothing has really been that "political" other than a post that has been deleted. If the President is going to insert himself into the debate, he's going to get talked about.
It's the biggest story in the NFL right now, so if you don't want to read about it, you will have to skip the NFL thread for a while.

Imagine how the players feel. Or imagine how the people feel that are actually being affected by the cause of the protests. I'm sure they're sick of it too.Boston Red Sox

It's too bad no one wears long sleeves anymore. Those glorious stripes are going to look rather truncated. The Steelers uniform looks best with the block numbers IMO. It was a mistake to change to the current style in the late '90s.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
